No adventures to be had out there? Think again! In my youth, we were taught that the Amazon rainforest was too inhospitable to have been home to a civilization. Then, in the 1990s, rumors began to seep out indicating the possible presence of extensive ruins. I think I first read about it in one of Graham Hancock’s controversial (but best selling) books. Since then, GH’s general views seem to have been gaining some traction; especially with the discovery of Gobekli Tepi and Gunung Padang. The view that civilization is older that we thought now has some credence. Probably a lot more to be discovered out there, especially in the area of marine archaeology (sea levels have risen 400 feet since the last ice age.) anyway, fascinating stuff. Grab your hat and whip and let’s hop on that DC-3 headed for Bolivia.

Addition: Regarding Gunung Padang in Indonesia, see the second to last paragraph in the following Scientific American article. Holy smokes! Up to 28,000 years old?

The quest for a cache of lost Civil War gold continues! Fascinating stuff. Here at F.L.A.S.K. (The Fedora Lounge Adventure Speakeasy Klub) we have been monitoring this case for some time. It is credibly beginning to look like the F.B.I. is hiding something. First, after being sued to cough up the records, it is revealed that the F.B.I.’s own scientific geophysical report stated that a large quantity of gold was likely buried at the site. Secondly, a nearby neighbor lady testified that they were digging noisily all night… in contradiction to the F.B.I. who initially said they did not dig during the night in question. Third, the F.B.I.’s short final report (stating that nothing was found) was only written a year later and only AFTER legal action was taken against them. Suspicious and unorthodox, to say the least.
Bottom line: the amateur treasure hunters who led the F.B.I. to the site, hoping they’d get a cut, might be telling the truth after all.

Maybe I should have saved this one for Halloween.

I would not say that Lama Itigilov’s body is showing NO signs of decay. But considering that he’s been dead for over 75 years, his corpse does indeed look like he’s only been dead a week or so. o_O

Quick backstory: Itigilov died at a Buddhist monastery in 1927. He sat down to chant/pray with his fellow monks and asked that they chant the prayer for the dead, because he was going to pass away. Sure enough. Mid prayer, he died. In his will he asked that he be buried in the lotus position that he died in. Also that they dig him up in 75 years. (hmm. That’s an unusual request. ) He was unearthed as requested, and his body was found to be remarkably well preserved. Scientists have a hard time explaining it. Some fellow monks say he is not really dead, but in a very deep state of meditation. I would not go that far.

But it is Weird. Additional photos are easy to find. (Warning. Link below has photos that some might find disturbing.) I guess it is just one of those mysterious things that we will never understand.

Apparently, his body is now on display at a remote monastery in Siberia.

update:
Whatever happened to the promise that they were going to clone Woolly Mammoths back into existence?
1. “Colossal“ program/company has been founded to do just that.
2. Respected Harvard scientist, George Church, is on the team.
3. They have raised $75 million And have 48 employees.
4. They predict that they are 4 to 6 years from first mammoth calves.
5. The marketing spin seems to be that reintroducing the woolly mammoth will help combat global warming. I’m not making this up. Sounds dubious to me.
6. oh Yeah, they also plan to make buckets of money by trademarking lots of new genetic applications that will be transferable to medical, scientific, and industrial processes.

stay tuned!

More adventure! Wreck of a Spanish galleon discovered off Columbia. Submersible footage shows gold bars strewn across the ocean floor. This is a job for Dirk Pitt!

The truth is more amazing than fiction, and the world is full of incredible things. It is okay to let our imaginations off their short leashes.

We are in good company. Who could have known that Brad Pitt is a member of F.L.A.S.K? He admits that he “obsessively“ searched for (what must have been) Knights Templar treasure on his expansive wine estate in Provence, France. You don’t get much more FLASKy than that. The Templar story involves medieval crusaders, lost treasure, and a host of juicy conspiracy theories.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/brad-pitt-became-obsessed-hunting-134329902.html

Of course, true Templar aficionados suspect that, one hundred years ago, Father Berenger Sauniere probably discovered at least part of the Templar treasure in the little Southern French town of Rennes-le-chateau.

That‘s not even getting into the mysterious true nature of the treasure. Holy blood or Holy grail?

Good luck, Brad!

"We believe this to be the blood of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, because he was resurrected there are no physical remains left behind to match this to, so..."

Hoo, boy! What a rabbit hole!
Just because I have too much time on my hands, I googled “Jesus bloodline today” and similar wordings. As I said, what a rabbit hole. Dozens of sites came up (probably more). There are whole genealogical charts that you can look at. Several books on the topic are out there. As you would expect, there are widely differing views: from relatively rational to bat sh$t crazy.

Because the Fedora Lounge Adventure Speakeasy Klub always seeks to get to the bottom of things, I submit the following: A certain Mr Conor Allen of Mt Pleasant and York, PA, claims to be the 69th great grandson of Jesus Christ. See paragraph 5 of the following Link. (Wouldn’t it be fun to find yourself seated next to him at some random wedding reception?)

https://www.parlia.com/a/jesus-bloodline-lives-day

Frankly, I thought I’d find some link detailing how an obscure living European royal could be pointed to with some degree of straight-facedness. No such luck. (translation: I ran out of time.)

Crazy stuff! I was surprised by what a big topic this is in the webosphere.

The world is a very weird place.
Small fish raining from the sky in San Francisco? It is blamed on cold water creating a glut of sardines in local waters… and thus, sea birds are over eating and then barfing the fish onto the streets of S.F.
Uh, yeah. Of course.
On the one hand, I wonder if scientists are bending over backwards to come up with these fantastical explanations. On the other hand, how else could you explain anchovies pummeling down on your umbrella?

Yes, the backstory is intriguing. Yes, some documented success stories do make you wonder. (President Jimmy Carter was caught on camera admitting that a psychic remote viewer found a downed soviet aircraft in Africa when no one else could.)

That said, it Strikes me as a little strange that these guys are having reunions. If you happen to be near Menlo Park later this month, you are invited to the 50th anniversary of Remote Viewing conference and celebration.

If it was so successful, why was it cancelled? Of course, there are those in F.L.A.S.K. who maintain that it still exists, but is now a super secret black project like the one back-engineering a crashed UFO. Sigh. The paradox is that these seem to be very smart people. File it under “I want to believe, BUT…”

Stop the press! Amazing Bigfoot skull unearthed in British Columbia!
hmmm.
can you say “bullsh$t”? Hoaxers are giving cryptozoology a bad name. :)
That said, nice skull.

The burial job was nice, but he would have done better if he had at least broken it into smaller pieces. In a way, just finding a small part of a jawbone would have been more convincing.

^^^^ Thanks!

So, here is a real head scratcher. Some kind of mysterious humanoid was caught on a security camera. My first reaction was that it is just a person. But the more I watched, the more I had to change my mind. For one thing, it’s size is a bit small in comparison to that automobile. That said, I have no idea what it is. Too clear and too solid to be a ghost. Neither does it meet the usual “Alien” profile. That leaves a cryptozoological creature (a gargoyle!) or a being from another dimension. :) There is always the far fetched possibility that it’s a clever hoax. (No! You say.) Especially since it lacks provenance. Always a red flag. Also: the alleged “security camera” is moving around. And it’s too much to hope that you’d be able to read that license plate. But still, it is a nicely done Effort.
At the end of the day: it is pretty creepy, and we’ve seen some weird stuff.
Any insights? What is your suspicion?
