Who doesn’t like a good haunted British pub? We could probably run a whole thread on this topic alone. I had a good friend who was working in London and I’d occasionally pop over to see him. We seemed to go to a lot of pubs that had reputations for being haunted. The best was one by the Old Bailey and the pub was supposedly built on what had once been the Newgate prison. The publican took us down in the basement and showed us part of nasty looking cell (amazingly small) that was said to be part of the old prison. It was creepy, but we saw no ghosts or anything like that. Although it was said the place was haunted.

Regarding the article and video, below, it is little to go on. But after watching the video three times, I imagined that I could (maybe) make out the arms and legs that she talked about.

I guess I’m an agnostic about ghosts. I really don’t know. Although I’ve met a few people over the years who have sworn they’d seen ghosts. The friend mentioned above ran into a ghost at the infamous Grey Friars Cemetery in Edinburgh, Scotland, and there were other witnesses with him. But that was him, not me.

Francois Courvoisier committed murder which led to an infamous trial that firmly established the right to trial
in common law-to the infamy of Charles Phillips' name. If any ghost is wandering about those precincts it is the
spirit of Courvoisier, a soulless ba***rd if ever lived.

Calling all men who stare at goats.

So, the other night I was watching “The Matrix” and the famous spoon bending scene piqued my curiosity. A google search brought up some blah blah about whether or not Yuri Geller is a fraud. Fair enough. Not unexpected. But then I stumbled upon these two articles.

The first is a report from the University of Arizona on a spoon bending workshop they held (way back in 2001). Apparently a few “gifted students” were selected for further testing:

More surprisingly, the second article is in regard to a section from Michael Crichton’s book “Travels”, in which he too personally experiences spoon bending as a real thing. His take is that there must be a scientific explanation, but we just don’t know what it is yet. Scroll down the linked page a little to get to his experience and the discussion:

Weird stuff that anyone can test at home. Let me know if you have any success. Warning: do not use your wife’s good silverware.

I would almost have preferred watching an accurate docudrama or documentary about the U.S. military's actual experiments with psychic abilities.

This documentary just came out (April 30, 2021). Good production values. It had me from the Jimmy Carter quote in the first 60 seconds. The film is certainly not unbiased, nor does it pretend to be... perhaps it gets a little over enthusiastic towards the end... but is certainly entertaining and intriguing. Perfect thing for a Sunday afternoon when I was feeling a bit under the weather.

From the Mediterranean. At first I thought the bones/spine was not bones at all, but something man-made. Maybe parts of some sort of pipe. But then it pans to the end and there appears to be something that clearly looks skeletal (a hip? Also seen in the opening frame.)
What was this creature, if not a whale? Apparently that has been ruled out because it does not resemble a whale’ spine. As usual, more details are needed. It would have been nice if they could have retrieved a sample for analysis. (Seven minute video.)

Of course Yowies exist, ask Han Solo:

Seriously, though, the First Nations people have stories and legends about Yowies all over the country, different tribal groups using different names. What is freaky to me are the reports that people have made about feeling the hairs on the back of their necks stand up while in the bush, only to then look around and catch a glimpse of some strange creature nearby or possibly watching them. The creatures reputedly engender a sense of anxiety in people. Is there some weird spiritual connection there?
