is this a good movie? It's on in 45 minutes here, and thinking of watching it - is it worthwhile? If I watch it I'll need to get my little girl fed and to bed, and our dinner on etc. first - and have a TV dinner!

ETA I have seen bits of it and it looks great. My hubby likes it (I think) so he should be happy to go along with this!

Aaaaaaaaaaaargh - it started 5 minutes ago - baby still up, still need to clear a space for the sofa to go which hubby is bringing home with him, and help him lift it.... video recorder not plugged in and don't know how to do it........

I think it's a lost cause :(

Book Lover,
Rent it - you and your husband will enjoy it, for both characters and plot - which is based on an obscure bit of Commonwealth history. C.S. Forester (the guy who wrote the HORNBLOWER series) wrote the novel in 1935, inspired by the tale of Lieutenant-Commander A. Spicer-Simson. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spicer-Simson

thanks guys. It was on in the living room while I was running around and it really looked like my kind of film. I just cancelled my subscription to an online DVD rental  Having a toddler - there just doesn't seem to be the time! I LOVE films though - one thing that saddens me is not getting to see nearly as many.

What does "net flick" mean?

Cheers

net flick = Netflix. Online dvd rental website.

oh I see. I'm in the UK, doubt they would deliver. BUT I was a member to one of these, but had to cancel as I just wasn't getting time to watch enough films to justify it.

I never get tired of watching this film. It is one of the true greats of cinema; from characterization to directing to script, it is a joy to watch. Immerse yourself in this great film. You may want to buy a copy because I am sure you'll want to watch it again and again.
