thanks tom and jared, this would be early to mid sixties then with this logo and clear plastic over embroidered picture liner? (I will probably end up selling it because it is really too small at 7 LO, I need 7 1/8 LO and I hate to stretch this clean a vintage hat. Anybody wanna trade?)

That sure looks 50'ish to me with the embroidered liner and width of the sweatband. I'm certainly no expert though. I wonder when the embroidered liner stopped?

Just got this Stetson Open Road 3X Silverbelly 1950's?, felt is super nice, thin, firm, and smooth.

Also of interest this hat came from the famous Denver Dry Goods Co., a historic landmark and well known stockman's store and catalog since the late 1800's.

Well my 3x has the embroidered liner, but no plastic, it has the..well, what is it called, onionskin? Loungers thought mine was 50's, I presume the plastic on the liners came later.

Sounds about right from what I've seen, the oilskin liner protectors are 50's and earlier, the clear plastic came in around 1960's. I think the rectangular size tag like mine is 60's and the round-keyhole shaped ones are 50's, gtdean48 may confirm. Fun research!

That Tiajuana is a great color, Alan.

Although, it stuck me looking at it how different the business world is today in light of the ongoing Samsung/Apple dispute. Imagine the 'intellectual property' case that Dobbs could have brought against Stetson (or Stetson against any number of companies for the Open Road).

This is a late 40s/early 50s 3X Open Road that I traded but have re-acquired.
Embroidered Last Drop liner, 3" brim...

Very nice! I also had a 3X from the 5th Ave Store. It found its way to a more amply headed Lounger.

I bought 3 hats from an antique dealer that got the estate of Mr. HFM, initials in this Open Road, 2 Royal Stetsons & this 3X. 1 RS OR was in almost brand new condition = pristine & Canadian. It has been sold a few times to fellow Loungers. The other was well worn. It got renovated by Optimo & is in a box for now.
