The Florentine (paglietta di Firenze) was sold in Torino in the A. Viarani hats shop in the luxurious and main road of the historical centre in the Piedmont capital. I have some some hats sold by Viarani too
Tesi made it at the end of the 70' and I have doubts today you can find this kind of straw.
It is the real Italian straw (sewing for each braid or groups of braids) as you can see in the super pictures Chris posted.
You have to inquire Tesi or visti him when in Florence.

Thanks very much, Daniele. Living where I do, I've developed an interest in straw hats that differ from the usual white Panama. The minute I saw this Tesi I knew it would be my new "grail" hat. My problem is, though, that I have a 63cm. head, which means that I have an awful lot of grail hats. I find it very strange that, what with all of the technology and global trading, the quality of products has deteriorated to such an extent over the last forty or fifty years. Well, let's all keep our hopes up!

very late commer to this most intreagueing thread. I've just aquired and posted this hat on my usual haunt - a Borsalino thread. I was told there that Tesi probably made it, which seems very likely.

I think I might try and reblock that sharp bash as I fear that otherwise it may crack the bacü straw.
