Sorry, I missed your earlier post. Pittsburgh was named after the Scot, William Pitt the Elder, hence the terminal "h" in the city's name.As I said before, puddler and knobbler are iron workers and possibly striker as well.

Veronica - those look like typical working men's terrace houses from the mid 19th century. I can see a livery hand living there, if he was skilled with horses and held a responsible position.
I keep trying to make sense out of livery band, and keep picturing a marching band on horseback ha ha ha.
They had one of those backward-facing military horns on "Antiques Roadshow" just a week or two ago.

The actual term for these is saxhorn, after inventor Adolphe Sax. He was also responsible for the saxophone.
And to just think!!! Without the saxophone, "My Three Sons" would have never had a theme song.
