Tell me about the company What Price Glory, worth buying from?

I am looking at a few wool overcoats from WPG and I have some reservations about the company. How is there quality in general? I was told at first by them that their overcoats were 18oz, then when I suggested I wanted to find something in 32 oz, I was told that they made a mistake and their overcoats are really 32 oz. So, this could be an honest mistake and the overcoats might really be 32 oz, or I could be getting bad information.

Jerry, who runs it seems nice...I dont want to pass judgment on him..but I am a little nervous as I havent heard or read much about the company. Any help would be appreciated, even if its just a simple bit of information about their reputation or trustworthiness.

Don't know about their woolcoats - but I have bought several items from WPG (BD jacket, White RAF sweater etc.) and always been very satisfied. Both with the quality and their service. I can only recommend Jerry and WPG.

I would agree that Jerry is an honest, blunt & reliable dealer with high quality products. In my aviation collection is one of his repro Mae West life preservers and it is absolutely amazing! I also have one of his A-4 flight suits and it too is highly accurate. The only negatives I've heard were about the officer's dress tunics not being "quite right" and footwear being made from poor quality leather. Other companies to look into (similar items & prices) are WWII Impressions and At The Front.

I have bought several items from Jerry and all I can say is that I am quite happy with the things I have bought from him. The shipping cost is quite reasonable and quick although right now they are a bit behind due to the amount of orders.

No, the Royal Navy sweaters are more of an off-white colour. Also very scratchy, although thats probobly accurate to the originals.

But are they (RAF rollneck sweaters) slender fitting, or designed for the modern day heavier population?

I have an original WW2 (RAF) Navy Sweater,it's off white,baggy and itchy.


I also Have (somewhere) An Eastman Repro...It's almost identical.

It's off-white, bulky, itchy, and excellent for winter wear.

I have his US Wool enlisted Overcoat

First post in the Fedora Lounge.

I have WPG's US wool Enlisted overcoat and I love it. I don't know how to measure the ounces of the wool but it's thick and heavy. The overcoat itself is pretty heavy to carry over an arm, and forget hanging it on a cheap plastic hanger.

Combined with a wool scarf and a sweater it's pretty warm in winter. It's single-vented in the back and it has a small button and tab in the lining to hold it closed a little lower in front. I find I have to gather the end of the coat up when I go to sit in a car. You could have it stitched close a little farther down the vent in back if you wanted.

The bright brass buttons are very military but dressy. If you didn't want it to look like an Army overcoat, you could try swapping these for some other non-military buttons, but it would still have a military look.

The liner is a cotton twill partial liner (not full). You could have a tailor try putting an acetate liner in it if you wanted I suppose to make it slide on better. But even as is, it's a nice overcoat. I wear it to church on Sundays in the wintertime.

It's hard to match shades of olive drab so I think a nice contrasting brown fedora would work well.

As allready mentioned - and sorry I am late - the RAF/RN sweater is offwhite, slightly scratchy - but nothing more.
Size is OK - I am a big guy and it's not even too tight. It just fits - and I believe it will even get a bit bigger/longer with use.
Now I am only waiting for colder weather. In order to get the sweater and Irvin out of the closet.

Great company, I have a few items , my Irvin sheepskin is the best value jacket out there as is my B3 jacket. These guys all pull it off so we’ll!
