Seer Sucker Suit for $65.00

I picked one up last week. 100% cotton, looks and feels just like the ones at Joseph Banks or Dillards which cost $179.00 and up. If nothing else I can wear it out this summer and get another next year. The fit was very good for an off the rack, only issue was the sleeves are a bit longer than I prefer but for the price I can't argue too much.

If you go to target.com and type "keanan duffty" into the search function, you'll see that they currently have six vests which go very nicely with suits: black, brown, dark brown, khaki herringbone, black stripe, and gray stripe. They are $24.99 each, and the thing that I really like about them is that they are "self backed," meaning that the entire vest is made from the same material as opposed to many vests which have an attractive front and a solid color acetate back. I wear two of these vests quite often and I am usually complimented on them.

Ye Olde Target Suits

I've got the blue pinstripe jacket and pants set, and have gotten good wear from it; it looks quite good and wears well, though the collar doesn't lay quite perfectly if I raise my arms. For a "cheap suit", it's great. I'd like to get the tan suit, but the local Target (pronounced "Tar-zhay") hasn't had them since last year. Bugger.

Very good! :eusa_clap

I don't think Target has reached the UK... yet. But the version in south-east England is Primark, with Peacocks as the ladies' accessories equivalent of Primark. A friend of mine calls Peacocks "Pee-co" (suggesting something grand and French, as in "Piquot", or something) and I've always called Primark "Pris-marché.

I wouldn't get too excited. Having a big store like that move into your town can have it's downsides.
Still, enjoy it as best as you can.

Nice picture. Shouldn't the vest reach the pants though.

Feraud,

I've gotta add my approval. You're looking good in that suit.

I saw a poplin suit on the Target website (sand colour) that I really liked. It goes for $100. Can anyone tell me anything about it. If it is worth anything at all, I might like to get one next time I am in the US.

Any and all comments appreciated.

Thanks for the kind words.

Regarding the Target poplin suit.
I tried it on last week and found the jacket is cut just a bit too long for my body shape. Take note of the length if you consider purchasing one. Not a bad suit for the price.

Are these still available?

Nah, they haven't yet. A lot of places do that sort of cheap clothing, though - bigger Sainsburys, Tescos, ASDA and so on. It's surprising how good the quality is in a lot of them, for very little - the big reservation I would have is where they source the stuff. I've picked up some great certified fairtrade tshirts and undershirts in Sainsburys, but I would be concerned when they don't have that label that the reason the price is low is due to the conditions the garments are produced under. Don't want to be a party pooper, don't get me wrong, it's just an issue I believe gets forgotten too often. [huh]

That aside, a lot of the jackets in these places look great. I would definitely consider the tan cotton blazer, especially if it is washable (very handy for a travelling / casual jacket). Where I tend to find big limitation are in the trouser deaprtments - I've really come to dislike the lower cut waists modern trousers tend to have, so it's mostly only repro for me from hereon.

I'd agree with Edward re. modern trousers - although it was quite useful in that the fact that the sight of me in our local shopping outlet trying to find a OTR suit with reasonably fitting trousers and failing was a major contributory factor to my wife agreeing that I should experiment with online MTM, which has gone well with me so far.

I wouldn't care to go to our local outfits such as Primark for semi-formal suits or shirts, for quality, material and detailing reasons, but some of their casual offerings are really quite good - I have got very satisfactory linen trousers from Tesco (a UK supermarket) for instance, practically all my linen short-sleeved shirts come from Primark, and only this week I bought a linen/cotton blend 2-piece suit there, to go on holiday with; with a spare pair of trousers, the total cost was £35. It is a 2-button notch with a 4-button cuff. No doubt if I had waited until later in the season, they would be on sale, in which case the price would be even better.
