Tailoring question

Hi ladies,
I have a question. I took a sundress to a local seamstress, and she took too much out from the shoulder straps, bringing up the dress too much and, frankly, into my armpits. Will it probably work to have someone else undo the seams and put in panels to lengthen it back? I'm ok with it being plain black and not matching fabric. I hope you can see the seam in the picture. Thanks for any advice.

It would help to see the whole dress, or the bodice at least. Does the bust fit better now?
Depending on the style, it might be possible to lower the armhole a little.
Do you feel like you can go back to this seamstress and have her remedy it?
