This week I was joined in the studio with fashion historian Ivan Sayers. He has a remarkable repository of knowledge, and I have seen about 50% of his collection. A separate thread and video to follow some day soon.
Next month is Black History Month, which always a good time for me.
The featured shows in February will be:
Feb. 3rd: Sidney Bechet
Feb 10th:The Great Black dance orchestras: Lucky Millinder, Buddy Johnson, T.J. Fowler and others.
Feb.17th:Benny Carter
Feb.24th: Billy Strayhorn Tribute
You are most welcome! Remember, I will entertain requests for featured artist shows - or feature shows upon request. i.e. a vocal groups show, all trumpet player show or whatever you would like to hear.
n.b. the two guys on the talk show take up the first minute - this guy ALWAYS goes over a minute +. He's an actor. 'nuff said. I need to set up the podcasts for a minute over; OR he needs to get the frick out of the chair at his allotted time; he always treats my arrival as some sort of imposition.
So funny, I just started it and thought... is this the right podcast? I mean, the ant zombie-fungus is interesting though it's old news... then more talk so I skipped ahead and YAY music!
That's Goulash. He's a Falkand Island war vet, bicycle freak and a bit of a nutter. Nice guy, though. Despite his passion for artificial music. Thanks for checking in. VERY much appreciated.
Today is Louis Armstrong's birthday, so it's a tribute to Pops. Swing it, Gate!
Also included free is a gold-plated faux-pas at the end of the show. Oops and :eeek:
Today's podcast is entitled "From Honolulu To Havana" - an all-Hawaiian and Cuban show. An odd pairing, perhaps, but I think it worked.
October 27th will be the broadcasting finale of "Sweet & Hot" as yours truly is moving to Melbourne, Australia. So if you're a fan of the show, I strongly recommend that you download as many podcasts as you need. I don't know for certain how long CiTR will be leaving the podcasts up.
Thanks very, very much to everyone in the FL who has tuned in. You make it all worthwhile.
