Certainly, but if you remember that they are called braces on this side of the pond, it will help your search.
Just to clarify, we call suspenders, the garment women wear to hold up their stockings, what you call garter belts.

It depends on what you want them for. For casual clothes, heavy jeans, or work pants, you can't go wrong with the ones from Welch or Duluth Trading Company. They are built to be durable and strong, but are not dressy. These are what I wear, but if you want something for your suit pants, someone else will be able to give you better recommendations than I.

To add my thoughts to the label discussion, my preferred noun is galluses. A more colorful etymology than the others.

For some reason, in this part of the country "galluses" are the shoulder straps on bibbed overalls, while the separate ones that clip or button onto pants are always just "suspenders". It's interesting how locality can affect word usage.

I did not know the history of the word. As a good Scot, I should have! Thank you for your post!
