These Tart Optical FDR also look good with fedora's to get that 1950-60's look. These have transition lenses and look really good for sunglasses.

Robert @GHT & I are founding members of VALES, the Vintage Aviator Lens Extreme Society. Today they call any frame with a nose bar an aviator. We like the vintage lens shape, tortoise shell or Catalan nose bar, & cable ear wires. The more extreme the better. Always on the look for another pair. I think Rick @quikrick would look good in vintage aviators & his porkpies & telescope stingie's.

That’s my generation gap. My dad loved aviator style glasses. My kids love them as well. I can’t do it. I love my horned rimmed Ray-Bans. If my wife wouldn’t freak out I would still have a pair as normal seeing glasses. They don’t look bad, just not for me.

If you're wearing a vintage hat or clone plus the latest Oakley's or Carrera's from Sunglass Hut, you might as well be wearing a ball cap...turned backwards. It kind of loses it's identity & just becomes a hat at that point. The hats & the Aviator glasses both come from what's been called the Greatest Generation.

Waving our flag here for a local business in my town, Randolph Engineering. They make US Air Force pilots sunglasses! In fact, they made the aviators that Joe Biden presented to Ol’ Vlad Putin this year! (It blows my mind that Ol’ Joe still wears made-in-China Ray Bans). They are even available in prescription lenses.

I have a few pairs from the factory outlet sales over the years, but here are the first ones I was lucky enough to own…. 8F989046-3825-42BD-833E-ABF237496422.jpeg

Ray-Ban New Wayfarers 2

I prefer the classic but when you find them cheap at Costco what can you do.
Stay safe everyone.

The size and shape of the frames depends on your face shape, but for me it’s Wayfarers. I also have the new Wayfarers. My optometrist had a great price on the new lightweight frames (I have to have Rx sunglasses).

I think they all can look good. If they look right on you without a hat on they will probably look right on you with a hat. I wear several different styles and really don’t give any thought to the pairing unless I’m dressing up. I do think that flat, non-curved, sunglasses look a bit more formal and pair better with suits than those that wrap around your face.

Some in the fashion world and elsewhere have said you shouldn’t wear sunglasses and a hat at the same time. I disagree and fall back to the practical purpose both hats and sunglasses fill. Protect your eyes and your skin and like the way you look: no need to get much more complicated than that.
