As a frequent Panama wearer, I was wondering what other hats (brimmed) are good for summer? (In a work enviroment, with a suit) Not really a boater fan and my felt fedoras cook the noggin when the mercury rises.
Thanks!

If by Panama you mean straw hats from Equador, there are also Milan straws, shantung and toyo straws (these are not made from straw), palm leaf from Guatemala and Mexico, sisal hemp, raffia straw, "poly" straw and probably others. Other than straw-like materials, let's see...

Wool's not significantly cooler than felt IMHO.

There's the silk top hat but you'll need a summer color:)

There are some hats made from other woven materials, often with some synthetics. Kangol Tropic Trilby, for example. Many others make cloth fedoras. I don't know if these are dressy enough for your needs. They are often "all weather" styles.

You might want to take a look at this thread. Light weight felt hats. I'd love to get one, but they are a bit out of my price range at the time. Someday maybe...

Thanks! this looks like a way to go. I have to dress "business formal" for work so that's what I'm looking for.

You might also consider a Milan straw in a darker, more subdued color. Like this grey Dobbs Bellagio, perhaps, with a more subdued ribbon.
