I'm so glad I asked for help! (can you tell this is my first time doing this sort of thing?!)...I"m encouraged!:D
I really like the starbucks idea..this way I can sit down with her and maybe think of things to do. One positive, she's commented quite a bit on my vintage looks, may be quite fun to see if she comes to share a love for vintage as well!
music; I have listened to some of what her and her friends are listening to, I remember back when I was her age, I could listen to that stuff forever, now it just gives me a headache! This last part is a bit off topic, but, has this kind of realization brought a bit of panic to anyone else of the reality of yes, we are getting older?! (I won't even begin to mention the lines around the eyes!:p )

One Too Many
When you have a kid you become conscious of it.

My son is nearly 8. No longer the cute little baby, he's hitting the kinda ugly stage, where the teeth are too big, his nose is too large for his face and those ears...didn't get them from me.

He's still cute, but now instead of stupid "cow goes moo" we can carry on a halfway intelligent conversation. Then I realize in the middle of him telling me the space program is a bad idea because it's dangerous, I realize it's been twenty some odd years since I asked MY dad about the space program (although were MY kid got the idea it's bad is beyond me. I went to space camp and wanted to go to space. I still do.)

I don't panic, but it smacks me sometimes that I'm not the cute 20 year old I once was, and I got this little person that has their own ideas, own way of doing things and while it never seems that it was that long ago I was screaming at my mom "I can do it by myself", when my son does it I relaize it's been a long time.

Heck, I'm in my 30's but there was a time I never thought I'd be a grandparent, and now I cansee that on the horizon, since my son is very adamant he wants kids. THAT will make you feel old.

I used to be able to get along with teenage girls quite well when I was a teenager, but that was mostly because I had a cool car, a leather jacket and a bad attitude towards authority. I would suggest doing that, worked well for me all those years ago lol
