Has anyone tried removing fringe from a suede jacket. I am looking for vintage suede jackets and a lot have fringe but I hate fringe. I was wondering if I could buy a fringe jacket and carefully remove the fringe with out ending up with a monstrosity. Anyone have any experience with doing this?

I was just going to mention your experience as a cautionary tale but you beat me to it. The fact of the matter is that the soul of a jacket lives in the fringe, remove the fringe and you kill the soul.
Did the Jacket look okay afterwards?
It'll look bad without it, because the design is balanced around the fringe, so all you'll be doing is taking a vintage fringe jacket out of the world that someone else would have appreciated.

My brother had a brown suede jacket that had fringes. He cut them off with a razor blade, and the jacket looked great. It went from a closet hanger to a jacket that he wore all the time—and you couldn’t even see where the fringes had been.
