I like Milkcow magazine also from the uk and Frauleinwunder from Germany, the last one is not coming out very often

Is Milkcow still around? I was a subscriber, but they appeared to disappear after the April 2012 issue? (Could have been my subscription just ran out without warning, but they always notified me before....).

I second that. The Ladies Home Journal from 1935 to about 1956 was an extraordinarily good magazine -- well-written, well-edited, and respectful of its readers' intelligence in a way few other women's publications have ever been. I don't think there's any women's magazine today that even comes close.

For matters of household decor and other such "vintage living" advice, I also strongly recommend Better Homes and Gardens from the same period -- there's no better publication for showing how ordinary people in the Era actually wanted to live.

I think the only way to get what you want is to buy actual vintage Ladies Home Journals and McCall's magazines.

1000% AGREED. When I read my vintage magazines it's like I'm back in time for a couple hours. Great stuff and no modern magazine will compare.

Hmm... Thinking about stocking up on old Swedish magazines - Allers, Husmodern etc. They're a lot easier to find here. I have no idea if they are any good but one has to start somewhere! :)

Please do and scan them. It would be super cool to have more international stuff to look at.

SheepLady thank you for posting the link for the vintage GoodHousekeeping magazine. I always come back to GH even the modern one is still worth reading for my taste.
There are also a couple of blogs I read that offer real vintage/retro style and living. Nothing Rockabilly (for me meaning to overly trendy at times).

My favorite modern Golden Era blogs:
Vixen Vintage
http://www.vixen-vintage.com/
Tales of a retro modern housewife http://talesofaretromodernhousewife.blogspot.com/
Elegant Musings
http://blog.caseybrowndesigns.com/
These blogs offer Golden Era tips with a modern twist and DIY projects too.

Something I have never found in a modern magazine yet.

Randomly, I just scored a Swedish magazine from 1912 in an internet auction (with patterns for the clothes shown). It's earlier than this board, but does anyone want me to share?
