MADE IN SCOTLAND FROM ITALIAN HORSEHIDE!

This is one of the best Aero jacket models available--absolutely bulletproof and designed to take on the worst weather than can be thrown at it, It's also one of Aero's rarer models--this is the ONLY Thunder Baby I've ever seen available on the secondary market!

Tagged 40. Measurements:

Chest: 24 1/2 (remember, this is shearling lined so this appears large)
Sleeve: 26 1/2 (measured straight)
Shoulder: 20
Length: 25 3/4 (measured down the center back, from the bottom of the collar)
Hem: 21 (measured from side to side at the bottom of the hem)

FROM AERO'S WEBSITE:

We can't take the credit for the design of the Thunderbay, as it's a virtual stitch for stitch replica of an original 1930s jacket in our archives. In fact, the Thunderbay is a jacket that was worn by the founder of Aero Leathers for many years until it became too delicate for everyday wear, and thanks to some sterling work by David Macks, we have been able to identify the maker of the original jacket as Franco Canadian.

The Thunderbay jacket is exceptionally functional and ideal for protection from the very worst of weather - after all, the original stood up to decades of Scottish winters! There are two deep Moleskin lined hand warmer pockets, and the combination of the fur collar, heavy Horsehide, and Shearling lining keep the wearer snug and dry.

The fur collar, the adjustable belt, and the stud cuffs keep out any wind or cold that might otherwise get in. The Thunderbay leather jacket is one of the warmest jackets in the entire Aero range; there will be few jackets on the market that are better suited to the harsh Winter conditions.

While this shearling lined leather jacket is a 1930s inspired design, it is cut more like a 1950s style which offers a fit with quite a bit of room around the shoulders and chest, however it does taper down to a trimmer fit towards the hem. We typically recommend ordering this lined leather jacket in your usual size.

Summary:

• 1930s style
• Relaxed fit
• Mouton fur collar
• Breast pocket
• Two handwarmer pockets
• Sheepskin lined
• Stud cuffs
• Adjustable belt
• Cord lined cuffs

THIS JACKET:

This is a truly wonderful example of an Aero Thunder Bay--it has never been worn outside, and has only been tried on inside, so it is essentially NEW AND UNWORN.

The Italian Horsehide from which this is made will develop wonderful grain and patina with use; the shearling is beautifully thick and luxurious. The two front handwarmer pockets are extremely deep and functional--they could easily be used to store your wallet in without fear of it falling out. They are lined in moleskin for warmth. The zippered chest pocket is also deep and moleskin lined.

The stitching is beautiful, and is in olive drab thread--a nice upgrade. The main zipper is a Talon, with a Sunburst box. The chest pocket closes with a Waldes zipper. Both zippers move beautifully fluidly.

The jacket features a deep interior pocket, lined in moleskin--another nice upgrade.

The cuffs are lined in cord, and have a button closure. The jacket hem is also lined in rich, chocolate brown cord, which will add to the jacket's functional longevity and protect the shearling. It also features underarm grommets to aid in ventilation.

The jacket carriers Aero's rare Thunder Bay label.

The jacket is in absolutely excellent condition--as you'd expect from a jacket that's essentially new and unworn! The sole possible blemish is a small "line" in the sheepskin interior, as shown--this is likely simply a feature of the natural sheepskin and has been there since new, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

The jacket currently costs around $1600 from Aero, plus shipping; the wait time to have it made for you is between 14 and 16 weeks. This version was ordered through Thurston, and carries their label in addition to that of Aero.

So, how about a MUCH more reasonable $695, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA? International inquiries welcome, with shipping at cost!

NOTE: I could also be interested in TRADES for Lost Worlds in 42 or 44, especially crosszips, with cash either way to balance value.

This is a bargain for a jacket his beautiful that will last you a lifetime--and be passed down to your children!

More pictures! Note the "line" in the sheepskin, which I believe to be natural and there from new.
