A devout capitalist in Los Angeles CA.
I skipped a lot of the inbetween looks, though that's pretty much it.

What was acceptable as dresswear then and what is acceptable now.

Here are some images of old Des Moines:

This is Downtown Des Moines, 1940

Here are some cars on Locust Ave. 1940. The large domed building in the background is our state capitol, one of the coolest in the Union, I might add.

I would add a few others but you can't really see the people very well, just buildings and cars. And I'm sure most of you folks aren't from Iowa, it probably wouldn't excite you too much.

Coincidentally, I built the gun in this picture. It's used in several scenes in the movie.

I showed my drama teacher those pictures and he added that his high school was just to the right of the state capitol building. He's an occassional lurker here.

Really? What school did he go to? What's his name? That's very interesting, I guess I wasn't aware there was a school so close. There probably used to be at one time but everything gets torn down in Des Moines.

When did vests first get trimmed down to close to what they are now? Pre-Civil war?

Well before. The "Empire"/Regency waistcoat ended at/just below the waist.

Personally, I feel breeches are highly underrated by modern society.

In America, I believe, breeches hold certain connotations...I love them, though my girlfriend would never allow me to purchase/wear them for these reasons...

Rooster, that looks like a splendid piece! I've never shot a front loader,
but I've admired them from afar ... sort of like Redheads.

Just wear a tricorn hat with them and you’ll be fine.;)

But seriously, they are a little too close to girl’s capri pants.
