Straw help.

Okay, I've toughed the summer out enough here in South Florida with my assortment of felt fedoras.

I've can't face another summer without a straw. Problem is, I'm clueless.

I could go anywhere from a Boater, to a Stetson or a Resistol or Dobbs, etc, mid-sixties stingy brim to a early fifties wide brimmed Panama, or even something current. I'm easy.

I just want something with a little style that doesn't look like a Party Supermarket DJ giveaway or something that belongs on a golf course.

My budget is, of course minimal. For a 7, something with blue, I'm looking to luck out under fifty bucks, with shipping.

I don't know by Cueneca from my Bazooka.

A little help here, please.

That's pretty wide open funneman, if I were you, I'd start out with a good ebay search 1st off, you may be surprised & just luck out with exactly what you have in mind, just be a little patient.

I was in your same bind, and I found this works nicely for me. I have summer caps and a straw boater, but this seems to fill in the gap nicely when the boater is too strange/formal and the cap doesn't provide enough sun protection. Mine has a red/blue club stripe band, however.

Don't worry too much about hitting a home run the first time. Find something that looks good and is affordable - whether locally, through a FL vendor, or on Ebay. You'll probably be buying another straw soon, given the mania that most of us have. You'll get good advice in this thread - and do a bit of searching, because straws and Panamas have been discussed at great length in the past.
