Don't hold your breath. lol

Let's see, I don't have a boater yet, I don't have a newsboy and I don't have one of those Rex Harrison tweed fedoras. I may yet get a boater although I think it may be the one style that doesn't look good on me.

Oh, and you forgot top hats and bowlers. lol

Ah, so I did! My apologies, I have been remiss! Indeed, top hats and bowlers are very much a part of your personal and very classy style.

And now, on to the boater . . . :D

The other thing that strikes me about this hat is how light it is. It seems to weigh half as much as some of my other vintage fedoras. And darn the luck, it doesn't have a wind trolley. I'd actually use it if it had one. lol

This ad helps explain the 'lightness'.

I gotta say I must have looked at this hat ten times today. Tony, in your picture you have the look of complete satisfaction:)

This ad just reminds me of how much this area has changed. :( Moore's was a high end clothing store back in the Golden Era. The area is now a mess. :(

J

P.S. OK, where are you getting the Oakland Tribune archives? :D

Yep, that's what I figured, too. Just from the way they look, I'd guessed that they're stiff as heck. My Adam topper is a 7-3/8 and stiff as plywood, and it fits me fine, though. I've also noticed that vintage Dobbs felts tend to run large, at least the ones I've gotten so far. Did Dobbs make boaters?

Yes they did and nice ones too if my experience with them is any measure of their quality. I have one of them. I also have a Stetson.
No collection is complete without a boater. ;)

GOL!!! That's a great one!

Very early for sure. Unreeded sweatband. Yellowy colored leather with trick imprint, including 'plane silhouette. That graphic style on the crown decal. A different animal than later versions like mine - and I really love mine - but, Jeez, Tony you did great for yourself on that one!

Congrats.
