Strapless dress/bra emergency

My friend is getting married next Saturday and has turned to me her only bridesmaid who has done pageant for help. Let me start by saying she is very fit she works out nearly every day and also she has been deployed in the Middle East until the last 2 weeks or so. Jess is also proportionally no bigger than I am. She went to get her dress (it is strapless) and with the bra they put her in she has rather unattractive bulges at her underarms. How do we hide this? She asked me because in pageants I used to duct tape my chest to create more cleavage so she was hoping perhaps I would know other tricks too. If you have any ideas please let me know.

It's probably too tight in the band.

Unfortunately, the underarm bulge happens to a certain extent for most people, which is why I think strapless dresses don't work for most folks. Depending on her bust size, it might be worth exploring alternative bra options as well, like adhesives.

And for some reason it seems to be what is primarily offered in wedding dress land right now. A long line strapless bra seems to work better than strapless bras that are literally bras without straps.

What about strategic placement of fashion tape? Also, I like the stick on "chicken cutlet" bras. No bulges on the sides. I'm a B cup so it may not work for everyone though.

I had a backless halter for my wedding dress. I'm a C-cup and I used the stick-on bra at the top right of this web page, the cleavage clasp bra. I did NOT have extreme cleavage, but it kept the girls in place with no bulges and no gratuitous nipple photos. I wouldn't want to do jumping jacks in the thing, but for standing around and looking pretty, it's ok.

I used to work in lingerie and it sounds like the cup size is too small. Bring her to a specialist to get fitted properly, with the dress, so she can be sure that it's perfect!

She could try and overbust corset if she's up for it. When they're laced properly, they distribute fat around the body so it should deal with the underarm bulges. Be careful not to lace too tight though, or you could end up with either extreme cleavage or a fainting bride on your hands. If all else fails, a silk wrap or suitably bridal shawl might be in order.

The problem with this is that the wedding is very soon and wearing a corset would cause the dress to fit improperly, as it's probably already been tailored to her uncorsetted measurements!

Yes, I suppose you're right there. It might just have to be a case of searching up and down for a very well fitting bra. Though, as I said, if push comes to shove, you could always throw on a stole or wrap etc.
