Stocking with Wedges

The "no stockings with open-toe shoes" thing is pretty recent, I think -- when I was growing up, you wore hosiery with any type of dress shoe. Bare legs were strictly casual -- you'd never see bare legs or bare toes in the workplace or a formal occasion. If you wore sandals with a formal dress, for example, you wore "sandalfoot" stockings, which had no reinforcement over the toes.
Not long ago I was talking with a elderly woman who said some nice things about about my vintage outfit. She made an interesting comment about stockings in general. She said that during WWII because of rationing getting stockings was a challenge. She said white cotton socks were usually worn with "play shoes" with stockings because they were so scarce reserved for street wear and in the office. She said after the war there was huge frenzy of women getting stockings after the war.

Personally, I don't care for the look of remix but then again, i'm a pureist for all things vintage. Now, having said that, i'd be willing to give them a try but feel they are waaay overpriced:eeek:
if you know of any really good sales, coupon codes etc.. pz lmk cause, i'm not about to fork over $180 for faux vintage ;)

Shopgirl, I just wish they would do more 'realistic' looking vintage colours/styles sometimes. There are only one pair of shoes there that I think 'Yeah, I'd like those' exactly as they are. Oh, and I personally think they're pricey too! :eek:fftopic: I'm not talking about the 1940s styles but the 1930s ones.
