Stocking sizing

Hi Ladies;

I finally decided to give gartered stockings a try, but when I went to order some, I saw that they come in sizes. How do you know what size to buy? Do you go by your shoe size?

I was going to order from Shop National www.shopnational.com, because they seemed to have the lowest prices.

Any advice?

Thanks:)

I would suggest going to your local Sears, they tend to have stockings for $2.50 a pair and they size by height/weight.

For vintage stockings, I always have to get 10.5 or thereabouts, and I'm 5'7" with a size 8 figure.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your sizes in non-stretch stockings may vary depending on the type of garter arrangement you're using. If you're wearing a long-leg panty girdle you'll likely want a shorter-length stocking than you'd wear with an adjustable garter belt. The idea is to keep the stockings taut -- but not tight -- to avoid sagging.

Just my 2 cents...

RetroMom,
I buy stockings from shopnational all the time. They're great for everyday wear. I buy the nylon non-stretchy, non-support ones, style 400. I think they run 2 for $5.95. I'm a petite 5'4" and I buy 9 1/2 Long. My usual shoe size is 8 1/2 - 9, but the 9 1/2 stocking gives my feet a little extra room. As LizzieMaine has said, the length you wear depends on what you're wearing with it. The longer stockings work well with my Rago garter belt, but a medium length works better when I'm wearing a girdle. (There is a size chart for stockings to the right of your stocking selection on the shopnational website. It gives the size and the corresponding length of the stocking) Every brand seems to run their sizes a bit different so it may take some experimenting to find the perfect fit.

You'll love gartered stockings--they're way more comfortable (in my opinion) than pantyhose and makes me feel especially feminine!
