Stetson Whippet garage sale find

Hello gents:

I bought a Stetson Whippet at a tag sale this weekend for $0.50 (no lie).

However, the inside silk/satin liner is about half way falling out and the hat is dirty and not well formed.

What should I do with the hat? Have it repaired and then ebay it, or ebay it the way it is?

Also, I don't see a size in it. How do I get the size?

Look under the sweatband for a paper tag that shows the size. If it's not there, use a tape measure to measure the interior circumference of the sweat. If either of those measurements is 6 7/8 or 21 1/2 inches, send it to me!

Sounds like what you have there may be a diamond in the rough! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap If you post photos we might be able to give you a better idea as to what to do with it.

What condition is the sweatband in? If it's in good condition you might be able to get by with a clean and block, but depending upon it's size even a full restoration prior to selling may be a good investment.

If you're into DIY, there's plenty of information here on how to clean it up yourself!

From what you describe, it sounds like a VERY good find that has a lot of potential. Whenever you can get pics posted, let's see what sort of work could be done to polish it up.
