Wasn't sure where to drop this and can't remember where I dropped a similar one before. Oral history (from 1982) of a former Stetson factory worker who started in 1917 (when he was 16).

I've got this on the way. Stetson Mission Sunday School pin.

1916: ("The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science" -- the John B. Stetson Building and Loan Association referred to started in 1880)

1925: ("The Human Element in the Stetson Business" pamphlet)

Sunday School was held in the large auditorium: (this photo shows the employee Christmas gathering)

1943: Photograph of the beginning of demolition of the Stetson Mission Sunday School. Stetson, the famous hat makers, scrapped 5 buildings in 1943 to provide scrap metal to be used in World War II manufacturing. -- "Philadelphia Record" photograph morgue.

1955: ("The International Pentecostal Holiness Church Advocate" - Jan. 27)

Not sure how long the Sunday School continued after this.

Stetson Heritage Day just happened here in Norwell, Massachusetts. I’m not a member of The Stetson Kindred of America, (SKOA) but I saw the story in one of the local newspapers. Lots of Stetsons went into lots of businesses. The town Hall in my town is Stetson Hall, funded by one of them. Just up the road, in Weymouth, the Stetson Shoe factory has been converted to apartments, I believe. There were even Stetson china sets, making for yet another bunch of rabbit holes. There were even Stetson china sets

We use Stetson / Marcrest “Swiss Chalet” every day.

It also seems that there were more Stetsons involved in ship building than anything else. Yet, most of what we know about the family centered around John B, or maybe Stephen. They certainly made more hats than ships!

They certainly did Charlie.
They built hospitals, universities, communities and towns. They made lives better for a lot of people during very tough times. They personified America like few others.
We think of their hats but their hats say America.
They should put old John B. right up there on Mt. Rushmore…in a big old hat!

Yup! Very cool. Those are the types of 'smalls' I enjoy collecting the most. I have several interesting items along those lines, but unfortunately, none of them are Stetson...yet.
