I recently purchased a modern Hemp Milan Strat and I really like it a lot. The main downside for me is that it does not come in all sizes. Its a really nice hat. Now I'm waiting for the Milan Open Road that they appear to be working on!

How is the crown height on that one? I bought the synthetic milan Strat a few years ago and found it to be pretty low, even for a modern Stetson. Do you happen to have any photos?

I'd prefer a little more crown but I like the hat.

I generally like a wider ribbon, but I do like this hat. Thanks for posting the image. I keep hoping someone will have them near me so I can try one on, due to the limited sizing. So far, I've only seen it at JJ's. Did you find yours locally? I wonder why other shops that carry Stetson don't seem to have it (at least the online shops I've looked at).

Thanks. My only complaint is the lack of size options. Had to pad this one a bit.

did you find it was oversized ?

I'm 7 3/8 and the 3/8 I got was way too baggy ... so I returned it and got a 1/4 which would usually be very snug on me

I bought a Stetson Pasadena at Bencraft the other day - it's a poly Milan straw, and is effectively a Milan Stratoliner with a narrow 2-1/8" brim and a 1" (or so) brown ribbon with patterned stitching. It looks somewhat 1930s to me, with the tall straight crown and the narrow-ish brim. I liked the looks of it quite a bit, but in the end it was too much crown for me (same result with the Milan Strat a couple of years ago). Of course, Bencraft took it back and hooked me up with something that looks better with my face.

Anyway, I thought it might be of interest to those interested in the Milan Strat. Of course, Bencraft doesn't have it on their website yet, but they have a good price - to be fair, the picture linked below is from Hats Plus:

Has anyone seen or handled one of the new Hemp Premier Stetson Stratoliners yet? I saw a brown one on Matt Deckards Instargram today.

My Stetson Milan Strat measures 4" front and back with 2 3/8" brim, true to size for me at 7 1/8. Brim snaps down nicely, softer than the crown but not floppy. I wish it had a taller crown (I like tall crowns) but, overall I like it, very comfortable.

anyone know of a way to flatten out the brim on the "Florentine Milan?

the flange is really not what I imagined

I actually don't really like this hat much at all as is ... no idea why they even attach the Strat name to it

I might like it some more if I could manipulate the brim... but it seems set in its ways

any ideas ?

If you go back through the thread, I think it was javadave who said he worked it with quite a bit of steam over several sessions to flatten it out. I've even ironed mine, but it always pops back. Earlier, somebody else successfully re-flanged theirs, as well.

And I'm with you. I wore this Strat all day at the Air Show earlier this year and it's been on a hook since. The real (vintage) Milans are so much better, lighter, etc. there's no comparison to the plastick-y feel of the FMs. I still like to plop my Andover on my head occasionally, because I like the look, though.

Edit to my post above. Still waiting for my Milan from Peters bros., once I get that I might retire the Stetson to yard work.
