Stetson Sovereign Twenty Open Road in excellent condition. 2 5/8" brim; 5 3/8 open crown. The sweatband is soft and pliable showing that the seam has been modified or repaired at one time. I wear a 7 1/8 and it fits true to size. The circumference around the inside sweatband is approx. 22 2/8 which is consistent with the hat sizing chart I use for a size 7 1/8. Very light soiling with no mothing or odors. $215.00 plus shipping.

7 3/8 or 7 1/4....depending on the hat. I have not found a 7 3/8 that was too big, but some 7 1/4 are too small. I assume I am actually a 7 1/4 long oval.

I guess it could be all things combined. I usually associate it with a higher grade of felt but all those things combined could warrant the additional $5.00. I have a Cavanagh One Hundred for instance and it has to be the felt because the liner and sweatband are not really much different from a lesser Cavanagh. The felt is very nice though and I can feel the difference. Whether is justifies the $100.00 price tag only Cavanagh knows for sure.

I believe the Sovereign was also considered a step up from entry level Royal Steston or Royal Deluxe as far as the Stetson pecking order but I could be wrong. I have a couple of more Sovereigns one is an early 50s Open Road because it has the OPS tag and the other is a 40s era Sovereign. Both are very nice hats.

Where did the Sovereign fit in? I don't know if they offered a Royal Deluxe in a 15 or Twenty at least I don't recall seeing any. Here is another Sovereign Twenty I own which is older and not an Open Road.
