Absolute stellar hat Keith!!I would ike to know all about this Stetson. Only thing on the sweatband is the Stetson logo (pictured) and an Oregon retailer. Quality/material? I also cannot read the "color" on the label under the sweatband. Style? Value? Thanks for all the help you can offer. keith1940
Thanks everyone for the nice replies. This is my 2nd Stetson of No. 1 Quality. Since buying the first one from a friend I have watched for Stetsons in the Malls etc. and found the one discussed last week. I will continue to look for them! I will print off the "Quality Chart" provided for a reference. I am getting too old to collect much any more and my head it too big to look good in a hat so I will not be keeping them. I just enjoy the hunt for collectibles and now I can add Stetson's to the list. Thanks again, keith
If you search the National Recovery Administration you will get a very tight window for the age of your hat. The ads shown above are from a later era (1950s) and the No.1 referenced was a second coming of that model. Your No.1 was a solid quality Stetson, shaped with a 52 block that is highly regarded around these parts for its straight sides with minimal taper. 7 is small size but there are a lot of cowboys here who wear it. A beautiful example that looks to be in great shape. Thanks for posting it. You might share your pictures in the Pre-1940s Stetson Western thread, where you will find other examples and more information on your find.
I hope I didn’t confuse the issue with the advertising I attached. I was just showing the quality/price order. It can be confusing understanding Stetson where a “Standard” quality hat is high-end but a “Number 1 Quality” is low end. I get confused myself all the time... I probably didn’t need to say that as it’s obvious.
You all have spoken favorably about my hat; I appreciate that. I enjoy reading the comments. I have another question: have you noticed the moth nip about half way up on the side? I am sure that detracts???? There are a couple smaller ones at the edge of the ribbon also.
alanfgag suggested posting in another area for more viewers to see, I will do that. Thanks.
That one is outstanding Brent.Continuing my No. 1 lucky streak:

Stetson "Standard" quality is the equalvant of the "no. 1"..... Standard quality was the dress hat line......No. 1 was of course the western line....I hope I didn’t confuse the issue with the advertising I attached. I was just showing the quality/price order.
