Douglas, I think you have one based on the chicken/rooster emblem.

From wikipedia:
"The term bantamweight usually refers to a class in boxing or boxers who weigh between 112 and 118 pounds (between 51 and 54 kilograms). Wrestling also has similar weight classes including bantamweight. The name is derived from Bantam chickens."

So the bantam and the chicken go together.

Gentlemen, thank you all for your posts and enlightening references! It is interesting thet therer are not many bantams around, nither among loungers, nor to be found on the web. Either they were not successfuly sold or simply worn to death! The latter is more likely! This Bamtam is really an outstanding beauty!

The rooster pin would have been a great thing, since I am a rooster in the Chinese zodiac However not a bantam weight, any longer

I cannot wait for the weather to get in the o.k. the wear felt range.

Yup, there is a nice bluish tinge in the darkish gray. Makes it a very versatile and easy to wear colour.

I don't know. It is like having a strat with a pin but not having stratoliner embossed on the sweat. Does the pin make the model ?

I think in this case it does - the grosgrain on the pin exactly matches the ribbon.
But that's just what I think.

No, because it's a Bantam from the 1930s, not an Imperial Bantam from the '50s. (Those later Bantams were the ones with the rooster button/pin.)


My '30s Bantam is identical to the one in the bottom picture on Dinerman's 1934 advertisement:

To all, I have just dug out a gray Stetson hat that I bought some time ago to use for a 30's hunting hat. Imagine my suprise when I took it out for a better look and found it to be an Imperial Stetson mode edge it is marked with an A diamond P in gold ink. It also so is marked John B. Stetson Company, 1224 Chestnut Street Philadelphia. It seems to be in fair shape lots of dust and dirt but no holes. The hat band is missing but from the shadow it must have been 1¾ to 2 inches wide. Can any of you help me out with a little more information on this hat? Thanking you all in advance. J.D. Hunt

August 27th, 1951, also found A.P.2. the #24710. Looking some more found a paper tag that says Ambasador with a lot number D7G7A, Size 7½ and price $15.00. Thanks for the heads up. J.D. Hunt

Here is the Bantam I have. It is a Green one from the 50s with an interesting sweatband and interesting script "Bantam" imprint.
