Another Gun Club. This one is like the one @BobHufford has but is grey with a black band. The ad posted earlier in the thread says this hat is a new silky mixture. I have to admit it feels unlike any other hat I own. This is a nice clean example. Doesn’t look like it’s ever been worn much at all.

Help... I have seem the Gun Club Hats by Stetson... Some fedora some western style. Can someone give me some history on this hat. Is it worth collecting ?

The Gun Club line has spanned just about ever style of hat Stetson has made. It’s currently a outdoorsy hat with a more western vibe. There hasn’t been a consistent marketing strategy other than they are all less formal and “sporty.” Back in the good ol’ days, Dobbs had the Rainbow and the Game Bird hats marketed to the sporting (fishing and hunting) man. Stetson had the Gun Club. The styles evolved over time and the older hats, as always, are more desirable.

If you find one that you like then it’s worth collecting. All Stetson hats declined in quality over the years, but the newer (1960s and later) hats can be serviceable, and if you understand what you’re getting and what you’re not getting then go for it. I personally don’t like the “mid-vintage” pork pie and similar hats with smaller brims and lower crowns. If you can find an older hats then its quality will be similar to other hats made by Stetson at that time. The Gun Club was not a high-end hat at any point of its history so it won’t be up there with the best hats.

I don’t know anyone here who collects hats as an investment. If you like the style and the qualities of the hat then it’s a good hat for you and worth collecting.
