Yes, that's how I read it too. They are both pretty old hats.

it was a valiant attempt! As expected, some moth bites, but i can look past thoseThat came in nice. The imprint is a strike through (as if you can't read the original mark!) - probably done by the hat shop that did the renovation.
True that, Alan! A good majority of mine have been eaten to some extent. I just say, characterBe patient, Justin... when you get older, you won't see them at all! ;^).
Can't wait to see this one in captivity James. The Bowler/Derby thread will be a great place for this one as well. We still need some head shots of you in your stiff felts! After doing a lot of homework, I find dates are all over the place in realation to details. I would like your thoughts on the date of this hat. I just purchased it, so I won't have any more details to share until I receive it. I believe it is late 1920s, like 1929 late...
Also, it is the first embroidered or stitched exposition medal liner I have seen, so wanted to share it here. Unfortunately it looks like the tied bow is missing from the back of the hat. Can't win them all.

Nice, Buler. Do you (or anyone else) know what they later used the same crest with the standing beaver on the left and bird on the right in, but inside of a circle with indents at 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 and 10:30, and the text: 3X Beaver Quality below the crest and John B Stetson above? From an early 1900's Stetson brochure...
