What exactly is clipped Beaver fur felt finish?

2 3/4 brim seems big to me.

From my understanding it's an un-sanded felt hat. The fur is clipped to give it an even appearance. It's similar to a silk finish except with a silk finish the hairs are slightly longer and brushed/pushed into the felt of the hat...

If I had $175.99, I'd have experience with it. I love the 2.5 - 3" brims.

Thanks Hatco. I zoomed into the picture on that web site and I can somewhat see what you are talking about.

I was also curious about the grading Stetson uses. This one says it is Imperial quality. I know about Sovereign quality. What are the grades used from best to least best?

This hat was created by Stetson to compete with Biltmore's Beaver finish hat. It is a fur felt hat wit hthe hairs buffed in a way so as to give it a long hair finish. Hatco sent me one. It feels like a very stiff hat. TheBiltmore is better.
