This Australian (AKUBRA) made Stetson Open Road is heading my way from o're yonder!

I am stoked! Does anyone know when Stetson yanked Akubra's licence to produce Stetsons? I asked the seller, a retailer, to speculate as to age but have heard nothing yet in reply.
I paid much too much for it on a "buy it now" format auction... but I didn't wanna risk losing it, eh? Don't tell Mrs. Blaine, she's out of town this week!
I so seldom see vintage Akubras, esp. in larger sizes I had to move on this 'un! Aussies all seem to have very small heads.[huh]

Akubra has that association with Stetson for years until it ceased.

No offense cookie. It just seems as though I see many size 53-57 hats from Oz all the time & seldom see the larger sizes. The observation holds here as well for vintage. If I had a 6 7/8 - 7 1/8 head, I'd already be out of storage space!:eusa_doh:

Probably fairly recently, when they got hold of one and saw how much better quality it was.
