Great idea Randall. Not quite a hat on a sculpture...more like life imitating art in this case. Literally.

It seems my hats are getting into this! Caught my Stetson hanging around on my Kramer this morning. I had to lecture it severely before my wife got up.

My wife has a small memorium in the yard celebrating the dogs who have shared our lives. It is a cement statue of a dog and at it's feet is a bronze plaque with the names of our beloved dogs. While I hardily dislike the cement dog and have espoused replacing it with something a bit classier it always falls low on my list of things I execute. This morning, like many mornings when I fill the bird feeders, I hang my hat on the dog. I struggle the 50# bag of feed pouring into the feeder and my hat becomes just aother thing to step on as I inevitably knock it off. Hence the "hat hanger."

Here is my statue contribution pic (Stetson Stratoliner (brown 1950's version)).

Thanks, Eric -

Great photo Eric. Is it me or is your feeder really close to the ground? No squirrels in your neck of the woods?

DNO; The perspective of the photo makes it look closer to the ground than it is. As to the squirrels, I like to think of them as dog entertainment. It keeps my dogs mentally and physically alert and active.

Best, Eric -

Where is that.

I recognized the statute but can't place the street. Seen a similar statue in front of a Yorkville gallery but that street in the picture looks like it might be closer to the waterfront.

You're right Joe, it's one of William McElcheran's businessman bronzes...there is one in Yorkville and several downtown. This particular one is mounted on the sidewalk on King Street West (just west of Division St) in Cobourg, Ontario. I've always liked McElcheran's work.

Very enjoyable contributions thus far, folks. Many thanks for your efforts. :)

Here's the founder of Eugene, Oregon, Mr. Eugene Skinner, taking a break in front of the city library. He didn't seem to mind the photo, but was not much interested in discussing his porkpie.

So true. I'm already on the lookout for a size 8 western that'll fit these slightly larger-than-life figures. (And it doesn't help that Mr. Kesey was wearing a cap. )
