I’ve come across a few jackets from a brand called standard motorcycle leathers on the Japanese proxy sites and they have beautiful leathers and interesting designs.

I’ve never heard about the brand and was wondering if anyone has inside info. Have you handled them and are they any good? What’s their patterns like? “Japanese style slim fit” or do they fit like normal jackets?

I agree with your assessment @torfjord ! They do look very intriguing.
Not cheap for a not-so-well-known brand though.
450-800 euro range excluding shipping and import taxes.
They also seem to have the typical JP jacket problem of short sleeves.
At least in my size.
Most examples also seem to be tea-core and perhaps the fast fading kind? Might turn off some folks here.

Agree about the tea-core thing. Fast fading is not my cup of tea (pun intended).
What caught my eye is that they seem to be a bit creative and actually do designs that are not just boring repro’s of the same styles we’ve seen a million times already.

That I agree with. Like they have taken some Langlitz, Vanson and Cal inspiration and mixed them all together. Which is different. I still want a LW J-24 it’s a grail for me. But how many j-24 and j-24 repros does the market need? How many perfecto repros do we need? At least it’s not the same 4-5 jackets over and over.

It's hard to find info on them for the same reason it was hard to find info in "High Large" before they changed their name to Fine Creek.

I think the jackets look well constructed, and the materials look good. I'm less sure about sizing. But they seem like a good value if they fit well. Haven't seen one in person yet.

Cowhide. Similar style and quality to four speed. It is a one man or very small shop and I don't believe they make jackets anymore. I think I read on Japanese listings they changed their name to something else but I can't remember what it is. I have a cowhide bag from them.

One thing I will say is be wary without measurements. The chest in particular has always seemed to be small relative to the tagged size.

As far as sizing, again go by measurements. but they're Japanese jackets made by a japanese guy purely for the Japanese market. If you're a big lanky American dude it's going to be tough.
