Squatter review?

Anyone have any pictures/reviews of the Akubra Squatter they would like to share with the rest of us? Lined? Superfine? Durable? Give us the low down.

Its a hat...its a place to sit occasionally ...no, its a billabong-a-rang.

I have worn other Akubra models though not the Squatter they are a fine hat in general

of medium quality.

Squatter: Lined, bound edge, lower grade Akubra felt, stiff as cardboard. But stylin'.

Squat Squatter

ON TOPIC: The Squatter is the kind of hat donated for the Traveling hat, which I had for a brief time. With breaking in time, the Squatter will soften, and probably be as durable as it's brother, the Federation. The Moonstone color is fantastic. My complaint, though, is that the hat is all brim and no crown! I don't think it's well suited to a fedora shape.

ON TOPIC: I've had a Squatter in moonstone for over ten years. Unless they've changed the felt, mine's Imperial Grade. And yes, it doesn't have enough crown to do a really stylin' fedora, but it still looks good, even with the shallow C dent bash I put in it.

Now, don't anybody bogart the Doritos. I still have the munchies.

The Squatter sounds like a serviceable hat. Low crowns are good when you're riding (or running) through low trees and high brush.

This a Featherweight Squatter I blocked maself, I had one for nearly 20 years before that, they are more a workingman's hat than dress number, but a fine hat indeed

Sounds good. Talking to Hats direct you can get the Squatter in imperial grade felt or featherweight as well as lined or unlined. Any comments on the steel grey colour? Any more pictures out there?

Well... the Squatter is definitely squatter than the Federation but I think the name is more based in Australian history(if you didn't know...)- as in- to squat(set up camp) on unclaimed land in order to claim title.
Remember, posession is 9/10 of the law.
