I went to the spotify website a couple of weeks back, assuming it would be full of nothing but Madonna,Britney etc.I typed in Ink Spots, and loads of Ink spots songs turned up.I did the same with The Andrews Sisters and loads of their songs turned up.It really plays them all well.I went for the free download,so i get a quick advert every 20 minutes. It's worth checking out.

Do you Spotify?

Does anyone else use this? I really recommend it, if you can cope with the occasional advert it is free and completely legal. I've been using it for about 4 months now and I've discovered many gems.

A few months ago, my pal in Devon suggested I try it, but I couldn't access the site. I think it required me to have some sort of proper invitation (?). Maybe it's different now, or maybe it's for UK, EU only.
I use Pandora here, and am very happy with it. I build my stations by typing in performers or song titles, then I get a wonderfully mixed playlist of similar music. There's also a thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon to click on each tune. The audio adverts are almost non-existent; last night I listened for hours and only heard one very brief one. Sponsoring companies do have imagery along the side of the Pandora page, which doesn't bother me, especially as I usually have another window open on the computer, or am painting.
When I first joined Pandora, it was required to have a US email and/or address, due to royalty issues. Maybe that's still the case, which is a shame.

We used to be able to get Pandora here in the UK but can't any more. I did indeed really like it and, for me, it was the forerunner to Spotify. The main difference with Spotify is that you can choose the tracks specifically. That said I spent many a pleasant hour listening Pandora until it was discontinued in the UK. As you said for Royalty issues I believe.

Too bad, it sounds great. I use Pandora here too. But you can't specify what songs you get.

While you can't specify your songs, it seems to me it's easier to get particular songs to play now than when I first tried Pandora a couple years ago. I made a "Take the A Train" station, and within 30 minutes, that song was on. Plus, when you 'thumbs up' a tune you like, it shows up in your play list more often. I've come to like the randomness of it.
