For as nice as the shoes are the BB sells, it has always amazed me that they only offer D widths.

I think you can find other widths for some of the models at the main store in NYC. I don't know if they are on sale or not.

Those Nettleton pics need to be archived. It's interesting that Nettleton was sold through Neiman Marcus, which is a statement of how nice Nettletons were.

I said I admired the shoe skyvue posted so much that I would make a pair. Finaly got a little time to work up a pattern while waiting for some glue to dry. As I get the time to finish them I will take pics and post them as I go along possibly in another thread. I may go brown on white although I am leaning to some brown lizard on tan.

"I see them as 1970's Art Deco Revival, maybe its a "Stylised" Cloud design, or a stylised "Cow skin Pattern", but I do like them
As do I. To me they're a good 30s-40s country shoe...er, shoo. Sort of a brogued brogan.

brogue = a shoo with perforated designs, aka broguing.
brogan = a sturdy, roomy, thick-soled shoo, originally ankle-high.

... just arrived...

The shoes have just arrived and I am satisfied with them (the picture is taken with my phone so the quality is low, especially colours).
The shoe leather is soft with leather sole.
They made them, as I requested, in tan brown instead of the chocolate brown of the web site catalogue (with no extra cost).

They came in their box with a shoe horn and a cloth sack to store them, it took a little more than 3 weeks from my order.

For 88 euro (shipping to Italy included) I think it's a good bargain.

Trying to skirt around the "no live auctions" rule...if one were to search on one of those online auction sites for "Allen Edmonds 11" a couple of interesting pairs might be found scrolling down the page. If I didn't already have enough brown shoes, as well as watching the budget closely this month, I'd be jumping on one or two pair.

Marco nice toi see they were flexible but is there a little defect/flaw there where the toe cap meets the edge of the welt/stitching?

USD105 - for size 11s! Bargain of the month. If I'd only known...[huh]

Mysteriously I only bid USD105 for those and got sniped when I should have had USD150+ to cover myself. Anyone want to date them? 1940s with the white stitching or earlier?

Spectator Search

Well, this is not the first time I've tried my hand at finding spectator style shoes. So far I have exhausted the "budget" route, and the vintage route.

Now I'm aiming for something between $100 and $200. Many of the large size spectator wing tips I have found have the same sized toe tip as the smaller sizes, which just make my feet look huge. So, I'm either I need a shoe brand that enlarges the tip in accordance with size, or I need to stick with cap toes.

Oh, and I don't want black & whites. At least not right now. More like brown & white or brown & cream range.

Suggestions are hereby solicited. :D
