Trickers Co-respondants.

Hello there Tom.

For several years late 80's/early 90's,i worked for 'Blax Period Menswear' in Holborn,London. They specialised in recreating classic menswear from the 30's through to the 50's,though they are long gone now.

They commissioned many different classic shoe styles from a number of Northampton shoemakers.,Loake,Alfred Sargent,Trickers etc.

The Trickers Cap-Toe co-respondants were available in Tan,Dark Oak or Navy Blue.
I have all three colours.Indeed the Dark Oak & Navy still remain unworn, languishing in the far depths of my shoe cupboard, maybe waiting for the belly of the beast that is known as ebay!

Has anyone purcheased/ seen/ worn the Botany 500 Spectators found at Blair.com? The purchase price of $49.95 seems too good to be true. An yes, they are leather.

Aren't there new AE seconds on Ebay? I saw my size in that spectator also for the precise $157 price mentioned above. Some sort of AE seconds store, n'est-ce pas?

I've purchased several pairs of Allen Edmonds from their ebay store. I do believe them to be seconds or overstocks. However, in all the pairs I purchased I've yet to find the defect that made the seconds.

Also, I've never paid over $150 for any of them. Twice, if a shoe didn't sell at auction I've e-mailed them with a lower offer and both times they sent me the shoes for what I offered them.

If you keep looking, what you want will eventually show up... at a discount.

Cheers,

Church

Well, Thursday's the day!!!!!!! Will he go through with it???? Will he actually buy a $320 pair of shoes?!?!?!?!?!?!? (I know, I'm only paying $157. Still)

Question is, do I get the E or the EEE??? My Bass captoes are 12 wide, and fit pretty good. Snug, but not obnoxious.

I take wide 10.5/11 wide and find the E are enough the EEE may be too big.

Has anyone tried the spectators from Remix Vintage Shoes? They are supposed to be reproductions of the 1940's style and the price doesn't give me chest pains.

Here are mine:

Can't wait until summer so I can get these babies back out of hibernation. They're great with linen pants.

These are BB Peals. I have the double monk, but they also come in wingtip. I'd like to have a nice wingtip pair, but I don't think that I'd go for two of basically the same kind. Would like to mix it up a bit. Might also like some black/white ones as well:

Not sure about the Wingtips, but I have a pair of the Blair captoes and I love them truly.

Thanks everyone. I like them. Seems like I only wear monks in unusual configurations. I have this pair, then I also have a pair of brown suede AE Moras (wearing them right now as a matter of fact).

Cookie, these are recent offerings. Bought them last year. Likely still part of the BB line.

Jerekson, I bought a pair of the brown and taupe cap toes (on clearance for $13.99). They have a strange break/ fold where my foot bends. I also have to polish them after every wearing because these folds just look like Hell. They are not the Botany 500's.

I GOT 'EM!!!!

Got my AE McClain's today!!! Still hesistant to commit to them though. ABSOLUTELY love the look. Everything I had hoped they'd be and more. Fit is my biggest issue. I got the 3Es, and they feel really comfortable. I don't feel any pressure around my foot. The heels don't slip. The laces are touching at the bottom, and about an inch apart at the top. Feels like my feet are touching the sides gently when I stand. I have a little room above my foot at the toes. I THINK they fit really well, but as I'm used to buying shoes that are snug, I'm not sure. There is a slight bit of room around my foot at the opening of the shoe. Not very much. (I can jam a finger in there if I try)

Somebody tell me I'm overthinking this and to wear them in good health!!!!
(or tell me they're too wide & send them back. Either way) :fing28: [huh]

You are and if there is a snug issue wear a pair of thicker socks or a a tongue pad under the laces.
