I grew up in Rhode Island and now live in Boston (Bahstin). I don't think I have any accent, but I can do a hack of an imitation of one. It makes Hem laugh and laugh when I put it on while out in public or at a fancy restaraunt.
Thankfully I don't have a RI accent either, that would be badd too.
As for my voice, I never really cared for it. It's a bit husky and I think it's deep. I hate to say this but it's a bit whiney, not as bad an my Queens born and bred mother, but I still got a little bit of that going on. It's inherited, I can't help it!!

When angry or annoyed, I slip into a very South Sde Chicago accent but otherwise I have no discernible accent. To be more accurate, I have a very non-descript Midwestern accent.

Fairly deep, probably a baritone. Southern accent, but not especially pronounced. Reasonably good enunciation, fairly decent vocabulary. For those of you in the south, think historian Walter Edgar, maybe one notch lower, with slightly less of an accent.

Walter Edgar and I are from the same hometown. I reckon I sound alot like him.

I've been told I have a Mid-west accent although I have no idea what that is. I grew up in St. Louis and am keen on accents and other languages but have never heard a Mid-west accent!?[huh]

So, If I would speak english, I think I would have this horrible hard and annoying crappy german eccent I actually hate, but to defend myself it's not as bad as Schwarzeneggers!!!! No, never! In german, I like to think that I speak standard german, but as my sisters told me after they came back from their trip to germany, you'll hear the viennese. Sometimes I also talk a bit.... hard to find the right word, let's call it snooty(?) but I have, to underline my hand movements (no, you don't have to understand that)

My voice, I'm not sure, since you hear yourself different. But I think it's medium you know, not too deep, not too high! Though, I wish I could have that deep, sexy voice with some sexy accent.

If you pull both of your ears forward when you are speaking, you will "hear" what your voice sounds like to others!

I sound exactly like one of my sisters! So much so that complete strangers to me will ask if I have a sister named Patty because our voices sound identical. And perfect strangers to her will ask if she has a sister for the same reason; (we live in adjacent areas. Of course these "strangers" are our respective friends!) Another of my sisters has 2 college-age daughters and all three sound completely identical. I have NEVER guessed correctly when I call their home which one I am speaking with. Genetics, I guess.

As for me, my voice gets deeper every year---maybe soon I will be singing baritone! But from all of the descriptions, it's probably most like LizzieMaine's.

That's a great clip Lauren, and you sound sooooo pleased to be there! lol Higher pitch than I imagined, and very pleasing to the ear.

And Doc - way too cool. Love it!

Mine is a definite contralto except when under stress when it rises to upper contralto and starts to break apart. I can sound like a weak voiced 80 year old when tired, but I try to squash that one. I'm more west coast Scotland than anything else with a touch of Irish and can flip into highland cadence or southern Irish easily (if you've ever heard Father Ted, I can do a great Mrs Doyle, and Father Dougal McGuire). Can do Morningside Edinburgh when pushed but rarely (think Prime of Miss Jean Brodie). Basically deep and low, almost masculine, with an occasional latent desire to be female! Was described by a Polish colleague who only heard me on the phone (he was in Poland) as, a Foxy Lady - whatever that means in Polish. I sound terrible to myself, but am getting used to it.

Haha! Caledonia, I think I was thinking of the fact that a) the umbrella was borrowed b) I had to walk nearly a mile to the bus and if I missed it the next one was in 2 hours and picked up at a little shack the size of an outdoor privy!

I am pretty sure it is East Texas...not too bad, people from here don't think so, but everywhere else they notice...ya'll Some lady asked me to recite a poem for her because she liked my voice. I was hung over and had, had too many cigarettes the night before, so I couldn't remember any poety. [huh]

My favorite thing to do is try to sing David Bowie's Life On Mars, like Marlene Dietrich. Shpidahs from Maaaazz...

This seems almost like you need someone else who knows you to describe it! hmm...I have more of an alto voice with a little bit of a southern accent to it. I also have this weird habit, of if I'm around someone for a length of time, I'll start picking up on their accent, and find myself starting to sound a lot like them
