See, to me that's just beyond absurd. (Unless it's a trick photo :) ) There's just no point at all to making a BDU as stiff as a board, especially in the USAF (where brains matter more than starch).

No tricks there, took it off of the hanger, leaned it up against my dresser and snapped the pic. I was nominated for airman of the month and the 'look sharp' award while in tech school, made honor grad in basic and distinguished grad in tech school, so I've got the brains to match the looks, and busting your butt on your uniform pays off, evidently.

My BDU cap stands at attention as well. The top is so stiff that if I hold it by the bill and wiggle it a bit, it'll vibrate like a drum and do a UH-1 Huey impression.

The uniform ain't kevlar lined, it's WINGNUT lined! :p

...really, you guys would expect less of a Lounge member? We're all about looking sharp!

Nope. I expect no less from you. Keep the BDUs standing. ;) Now do the pants walk around by themselves when you are not looking? :p

Thanks Wingnut. I picked up a bottle of Sta-Flo at Walmart and am now working my way through a pile of 9 potato chips.
I wonder if it might be effective to mix up a basin of the stuff and just soak the shirts, then let them dry? The spary bottle needed refilling about every other shirt, and I notice some uneven places where you can see where the starch was sprayed.
Now I can get my shirts stiffer than the laundry, at under 10% of the cost. This stuff works.

Owe you one!

Work on your technique and the dilution. I get a whole BDU out of half a bottle of Sta-Flo, but I'm mixing it half and half(1:1) with water. Use a spray bottle with an adjustable spray and set it to a fine mist. Spray until you can see the fabric is soaked through and move to the next area. Let it dry overnight, then iron, preferably with an old T-shirt between the iron and the garment.

Glad I could help! I wonder if it would work for detachable collars if it was undiluted.

I bet it would! I just finished the pile and the Land's End Hyde Park Oxford was as stiff as a, well stiff collar over every bit of it.

This is how my grandmother used to do sheets. Sounds horrific, but there was nothing nicer to sleep in.
