Has anyone tried out the Spanx body shapers? Or anything else from them? If so, how do they fit? Would you recommend?

I've used the power panties, which look like bike shorts. This may be oversharing, but they work well as an anti-chafing aid in the summer months when stockings or pantyhose would be just too hot. Overall I like them. Target does a cheaper version, called Assets, that work just about as well.

If you follow their sizing chart, the fit is snug but not overly so. They've been very durable and hold up well to machine washing.

I can't comment on the other Spanx products. Anyone else?

I also have heard a lot of good things about them (Spanx) and I think that the (Assets Brand) that is sold at Target was created by the same lady that created Spanx.

I bought one of their bras hoping it would be supportive but comfortable, I wouldn't recomend it for anyone who wears a C cup or larger, not so good with the support thing. I really want to try the bike shorts or uderpants, I got a pair (different brand) for a knit dress I wore recently, it made me feel better if nothing else. ;)

I've tried both the Spanx power panty and also the Spanx nylons. They do really help to make you more shapely. However, the nylons run on the smaller side, so I would buy the next size up on the chart. They still work fabulously, but are much more comfortable. Hope this helps.

I've only bought some Spanx tights (the "reversable" ones) for when I was travelling in a snowy climate. Just my experience (gotten spoiled wearing vintage sheer stockings) but I had the unhapy sensation of wearing a thick polyester straightjacket around each leg.

I've used the Spanx power panty in nude. It certainly holds you in and firms you up, but I didn't like it that much. I thought it was kind of ugly (like pantyhose-colored bike shorts, ugh), and not especially comfortable. The material is much thicker than you would expect. I think control-top pantyhose are way more comfortable than my power panty ever was, and much easier to manipulate during bathroom breaks. Additionally, my power panty tore at the waistband after a few uses, making the cost per wear pretty high. :(

There is a line at Target called Assets, made by the same person. You might want to try that first. I recently ordered a pair of the footless Capri shapers to try wearing under a pair of unlined slacks (haven't received them yet, so no review). I don't think the quality is the same, but the Target brand looks a little thinner/lighter which appeals to me. Additionally they were only $10, compared to the $68 equivalent on the Spanx website.

Thanks everyone! I think I will try the Target version before I spend too much. I was wanting something to wear under my wedding dress. Thanks!

Since they don't have underwires, do they let the bosoms smoosh together? I've been wanting to order one, but I don't have much luck with non-underwire bras.

Yes, they smoosh together and again...absolutely no support. If you wear a C cup or bigger I really wouldn't recommend it, but if you are smaller it might work just fine (I was going to say...or if they are fake you wouldn't need the support, and it would probably work fine :D )

Its always best to try something like that on just to make sure it is really what you are looking for.

Good luck!

I love Spanx power panties, reversible tights and pantyhose. I find them infinitely more comfortable than regular nylons. But I have found that many of the traditional companies have adopted the Spanx style of not having that rubber band in the waist, so other pantyhose are more comfortable than they used to be.

They are thicker (sturdier) than the average nylons, but I don't mind.

A few years ago I bought several pairs of Spanx off of eBay, and I absolutely do not recommend that route. They fell apart very quickly...Not sure if they were knock-offs or seconds. The Spanx I bought from the department store have held up very well.

If you're worried about them not fitting in the bust, you could always go for the ones that come right up to the bust, yet don't cover.
I have this one piece apparatus made by them, it's like a very tight tube skirt that covers from the hips to just at the bust line. It works great and it really smooths things out.
I too wear the shorts in the summer, when it's too hot to wear stockings. They are very comfortable. I tend to buy a size smaller than I need, but that's because I like to have the extra power. I have back and hip problems, and the support from Spanx makes my back and hip pain feel so much better.
Your best bet, go to your local department store and look at all the different items that they make. They have so many different options, that there really is something for everyone:)

Smoosh-age did occur with the bra I bought. (DD cup) :-(
And a note to the bigger gals...the flabby bits have to go somewhere...and with the high waisted thingys it ends up just below your bra making you look like the Pilsbury dough man.
Trust me.

Tried the panties/shorts kind in the Assets brand... they were nice, but I think I'd try them again in a size smaller, as mine didn't seem to smooth/hold in as well as I had hoped. Unfortunately, there's run in the waist portion, but I stopped it with some clear nail lacquer, and it doesn't seem to have completely ruined the garment.

I usually just wear a bra & am very self conscious wondering if the straps are showing, or worse--digging in. I like it to look as though I'm not wearing one, so I go for unlined stretchy cups but the bands always seem to make the straps do the work. :(

I <3 Spanx, and I think they're better than the Assets brand or any other "power panty". Spanx are simply awesome. (and they're not too hot to wear, even in the summer)

On another note, my mom has some back issues, and she says her Spanx help support her back.

Edit: My only complaint is that I have a long torso, and I wish that they would hit me just an inch or so higher...so if you have a long torso, you may feel the same way

Spanx rocks! I bought some recently and am now wanting to buy more. My pants which were getting snug felt very comforatable with Spank on and gave me some room to move without pushing any bulges out.
