How do these feel in hand?

I’ll let you know as soon as I receive them. The western in bottle green I had as fairly coarse and, well, western feeling. I’m dying to get it back as a finished hat and see how it turned out after blocking, pouncing, ironing, etc. I have high hopes for these new-to-me suede finished hats from Millinery Warehouse

I just made the bottle green western weight (220gr I think.) It was a bear to work with ....stiff and thick. I wrestled with it and some days it won. In the end it made up a very nice looking western hat. Still stiff but a little less so, the colour was amazing. I have high hopes for the suede and have a Granite on order

The granite is a lighter 160g suede finish felt compared to the bottle green which was a 210g western felt. I hope the 160g suede felts are somewhat soft. I’m expecting them to be a lot stiffer than Agnoulita’s Tonak suede/antelope dress felts, but I’ll be very disappointed if they are stiff/hard western felts.

My 160g suede finish capelines from Millinery Warehouse arrived. First impression: very nice! Soft, dense, and stiffened without being harsh or cardboard-like. Second impression: it’s not as large as it was listed. I’m thinking I might get a 3 1/4” brim with a 6” crown once it’s blocked to my size. Not a problem if you want a typically proportioned fedora, but I was hoping for a sort of western crossover hat. I don’t have any regrets, and I’m thinking about another order, but I do wish they were as big as advertised (5.75” crown and 4.5” brim). The more I handle this felt the more I like it.

colors are silverbelly, pecan, and granite:

Edit: The brims measure around 3 7/8 inches but the crown is approximately 6 1/4 inches. I’m sure that a lot of the crown height will be used when it’s blocked up to my size on a low taper block. Still, the felt is more...springy than the beaver of nutria felts I’ve had. I’m now hopeful of getting a 3 1/2 or even wider brim. Time will tell.

I couldn’t help myself and ordered a 140 gram velour capeline in ruby red.

It looks similar in color to a Tonak in wine I have. One of my criticism of the Agnoulita supplied Tonak velour felt is that they are single-sided finished: the velour finish is only on outside. It’s not terrible, but it looks and feel a bit cheap. These Millinery Warehouse velour felts are double sided and after feeling the 160g suede felts I have high hopes for the velour.

I’ve wanted a big floppy plush hat for some time. A couple years back I sent Mr. P at Agnoulita the photo below, but apparently Tonak doesn’t offer felt that would be able to get me what I want. I even wondered about doubling up hat bodies with one nested in the other for a double thickness for the plushness and floppiness I want. I don’t know where or when I’d wear the hat, but it’s one I’ve wanted for a few years now. Anyone have any suggestions?

I sent an email to the Millinery Warehouse about stocking/restocking felt hat bodies and this was the reply:

“Beaver yes, we should have by end of March at the latest. Nutria we won't be working with but we do occasionally do 100% hare and hare blends upon request.”

Hello friends, I am from Mexico and I am looking for bodies for top hats and very wide brims for making charro hats, since that is what I do. I hope someone has or knows of some manufacturer and sent their products to my country Mexico. I am a fan of old charro hats and I would like to replicate some with very fine and thin material bodies as they were in yesteryear. I await your comments, I am at your service, I leave my telephone contact with WhatsApp +5219211201302, greetings to all.
