I know it's kind of sappy but "Mr. Bojangles" by Nitty Gritty Band always makes me kind of melancholy.

s'ok - pretty much everyone's choices here are heavy on the sap factor.

Moonlight Serenade will always give me shivers... Some times I can't listen to it without shedding a tear.

Most of the songs sang by Ray Eberle wile with Glenn's band have the same effect on me... mostly the Chesterfield broadcasts... when the opening theme comes on and I hear the applause... and I'm driving down an old road at night by my self... shivers and tears are soon to fallow.

I was born too late.

Duke Ellington recorded a heartbreaking rendition of "Solitude" in 1941; just him and his piano. Always does it for me.

My Tata's (Grandpa's) favorite song. I hear it and I tear up sometimes, if I focus on it. He passed away 10-01-2007. He was the main male figure in my life.

Both songs actually remind me of him.

'I want you' by Moloko, I can enjoy the song today but at the time it came out I was hopelessly in love with my lover, but the deep feelings was never returned and the song describes exactly how I felt at the time - and yes I would cry when I heard it (after we stopped seeing each other).

Her "I'll Be Seeing You" is, IMHO, the best version of this great WWII song. And her "Shenandoah" is guaranteed to mist up most everyone.

Well.....I have a long list on this one. Nothing affects me quite like music does. I'm one of those wierd people who would be perfectly comfortable living in a musical . Good thing I have the theater! But here are a few. All are pretty much anthems to me. They describe very specific points of my life or my personality.

I can't watch Casablanca now without thinking of a certain person and getting a bit sad. I think he knows why.

This was the song that my husband and I danced to at our wedding. Whenever I hear it, I just get flooded with memories.

This one more makes me smile than cry. One of my really good friends used to call me angel. More tongue in cheek than anything else but still. This was the ringtone he'd assigned to me. He was always there to protect me and I don't get to talk to him a lot anymore because his wife thinks I'm out to replace her.

Anyone who really knows me can appreciate why this song is me. And it makes me cry everytime I hear it.

Nearer My God To Thee.
I sang this at my Father-in-Law's funeral. It reminds me of him now.

God Be With You Till We Meet Again
I sang this one at my Father-in-Law's funeral too. But more than that, for some strange reason we always find ourselves singing this song on the last Sunday before my husband leaves for deployments. And once again when he left two weeks ago for his third OIF tour we got to Church and this was up on the board as the closing hymn. We have a tradition that he wears his dress uniform to church on his last sunday and there is just something about singing that song and seeing him in uniform that just kills me every time.
