Most of it is just lame, or an art school drop out cause they were told they couldnt draw. NO since of color in most of the works (straignt from the tube) and a lot of 'hobby' art from grandma Bee who wanted to take acommunity college art class.

Whats even sadder, is that these bad artists at least have a gallery, dispite it being a spoof gallery.

*sigh*

These look like children's paintings. Assuming that, I wouldn't lampoon them. Now, if they were for sale, I might.

I recently read about people paying $75,000 for originals of frolicking dolphins, idyllic scenes (like Thomas Kinkade) etc. Now, I'm not saying that it's bad, but $75,000 for pretty illustrations?

The whole concept of Art is abstract, weather it is "abstract art" or not. It certainly isn't going to "speak" to two people in exactly the same way.

One man's trash is another man's treasure, and all that...

To each his own.

I first stumbled across this site about four years ago. It was pretty funny because the guy who was collecting this junk wasn't trying to be funny with his reviews, he was just being sarcastic. As with The Onion, since it's gone mainstream it just doesn't have the same kick. Though I must admit, this is still funny:

I've been collecting tacky art for ages. They make great gag gifts....
I just found this one at the Goodwill...couldn't pass it up. It's a huge painting and actually has a title...'The Woman of Castille.' She looks so sweet and innocent, but the dude behind her is looking at us...the sleazy look in his eyes telling us what his plans with her are. It's one of those pieces of bad art put out by the Turner Co. back in the 1960s. People would hang these things up in their homes back then!

If I had one of them in my basement, it wouldn't be in my basement.:D

I know a guy who bought all this stuff when he was a young man in the early 70s. I first met him in the early 90s, and in his apartment he still had the matching chairs, sofa, and bar, along with one of those paintings. It did look good. As I also say about some clothes, at least it is a style, which is something that's lacking in the apartments I see today. I realize I just like anything that puts me in a specific place and time. When I was kid, we used to laugh at the old codgers who drove Dodge Darts. Now they're pretty cool.

I have to admit, in some way I like that sleazy 60s/70s red velvet, wrought iron, heavy oak Spanish decor. But I think you need to have a basement apartment for it to work.
