EDIT: I remember seeing the potato salad one on Thats Entertainment, it was to illustrate how many acts were in Hollywood at the time that didn't make it.
I wonder why this one didn't?

crazy, I love it. I don't understand the link between the act and potato salad though. Or the barn. Or what solid potato salad is by the way.

It's just a jive song about food. They wrote a few in the late 30s-early 40s - "Hold Tight, Want Some Seafood Mama", "The Frim Fram Sauce", "Pick-A-Rib", and the like.

I suppose "Solid Potato Salad" is simply any potato salad that is solid at room temperature. Of course, "solid" in the parlance of the day meant righteous, satisfying - the real thing.

Personally, I prefer my potato salad German style - red spuds, bacon and onion bits, mustard and vinegar, served hot. I would not have let this be known during WW2, however.

Actually, this type of act was pretty popular back in the day. Just a reminder that the past is one of those places that would be nice to visit, but you reeeeally wouldn't want to live there! I'm impressed by the fact that these girls are obviously acrobats first, but they can make a pretty impressive vocal presentation, as well.
