Alright, this hat has a story, short as it may be. I actually purchased this hat from The Wingnut... I want to say last year, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the hat was in good shape, but needed cleaning and such. So, I handed it over to our resident Hat Doctor, Art Fawcett. It has been cleaned and the ribbon replaced with a distinctly non-Open Road ribbon.
I won't say the hat is perfect, far from it. There are some minor dirt marks that are visable with close inspection, and this is clearly a hat that was worn, not kept in a box someplace. The lining shows the most signs of wear, but doesn't really need replacing. Most opinions date it as late 1960's. Color is sort of a cream/tan. Some old bashmarks can be seen close-up, but they are fading with time. The hat has not been soiled since it's cleaning by Art. I have only worn it in fair weather and kept it stored in optimal conditions.
Because I put some work into it, I'd like to see $85 shipped within the U.S., but I'm willing to haggle or entertain a trade in a size 7 1/2. Questions also welcome. I really like this hat, epecially the color, but I really have to let it go at this point. The photos at the link below include the "before" pictures that Wingnut posted (they have Wingnut in the title and the original thin ribbon).
