According to Tutee in his London Lounge essay:

He [Windsor] simply saw the original garment in the window of a retail store in Edinburgh, like it and went inside and bought it. The Prince first wore the coat in London a year ago and others were not slow in taking up this fashion. The coat was originally made up in llama type fabric and it is a short, loose fitting raglan sleeved single breasted fly-front topcoat with a blunt, stubby peak lapel. [quoted from Apparel Arts]

This is rough Scotch tweed with fly front, peaked lapels, raglan shoulders and turned back cuffs. The loose fit is an important feature here.

The coat offered here differs in some ways. There is no fly front and the collar is an ulster style rather than having peak lapels. There is also a very useful working collar/lapel button.

Asking $75 shipped in a Priority mail flat rate box, CONUS, Paypal please.

Tagged a 42 Long, it likely would work for a 44 as well:

Chest, underarm to underarm: ~25"
Interior sleeve measurement (from pit to bottom): 16"
Length from bottom of collar: 43"

As it has raglan sleeves there is no defineable shoulder area or exterior sleeve measurement from the non-existent shoulder. I can provide any other measurements on request.

Please note, the center button on the front has come off, but is still with the coat. It is in the pocket and will be an easy fix to sew on.

WOW!!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

absolutely love it. at 5'9", med. build, I'm wondering how this would make
me look (vanity, thy name is...) short, bulky, optically challlenged...?

which is the real color- black & white or the shot with the flash-and what looks to be a very yellow (incandescent) light?

perhaps you can get back to me- and a question aimed at Mssrs. Chevalier and Deckard about how the check appears on a frame like mine would help-at least give a yardstick to measure other highly patterned coats after.

thanks

Thanks for the kind words. It really is a nice coat.

After discussing the issue with my color consultant (aka, Mrs. AlanC), the light field is gray with a slate cast, the darker check is a brown/black blend and then there's a rust stripe through it. Mottled tweeds like that are tough to nail down, and as you allude to, can vary depending on the light, too.

I fear at 5'9" the sleeves might be a bit long on you (they are on me at 5'10"), but it also depends on how long you like your coat sleeves.

ah, sleeves; courtesy of Matt Deckard (I believe) we learned about the sleeve "problem" caused by bad tailoring-the cut of the armholes in jackets, coats, etc. Ergo, a longer sleeve is sometimes more desirable, because unless you stand at attention with arms at side, the sleeves will ride up whenever you stretch your hand out-driving, trying to catch your hat in the wind, pointing at Zepplins, etc. You've seen the poor saps with the fabric all bunched up around their neck and the cuffs of the jacket somewhere around mid-forearm-as they smugly smile knowing they're a sartorial KO...
will show the photos to the Missus, see what she throws at me, and will try to get back to you if someone hasn't already bought it.
Will count the money jar, too. Heating season, you know-

thanks and take care
