So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

The temptation is to view it in Darwinian terms.

There is now something in excess of seven billion inhabitants of this garden built for two. Faced with the very real pressures this places on all that sustains us, acceptance of sexual conduct that poses little if any chance of producing more mouths to feed would seem the natural response.

Depends.
If you’ve been naughty, this is de rigueur on your plate. :p

Yes, though for the fireplaces I use the much cheaper Blaschak Pennsylvania Anthracite.
A bit more sulfur that the Pocohontas, but I am not paying $16.00 for 50# of fuel.

I went to get some Hallowe'en lights today.

October 13th.

Not even half way through the month.

I tried two places known for stocking lots of decorations (Canadian chains).

Each had the dregs of their Hallowe'en stock in a couple of lonely looking stacks, and didn't have what I was looking for.

Each, however, was stocked to the CEILING with, yes, you guessed it -

CHRISTMAS decorations.

On October 13th.

I will not buy decorations for any holiday at either place ever again.

People who become angered after unsuccessfully attempting to influence you by jamming their belief (political, religious, or otherwise) down your throat. :D

I was once told that having a political or religious opinion is like having a certain male appendage. It's okay to have one. Its even okay to be proud of it. But you don't whip it out in public or shove it down peoples throats.

I remember the good ole days when people kept their political opinions to themselves. Nowaday, too many believe that they need to express themselves and everyone needs to listen and agree.

This is true. And I think it's exacerbated by the fact that, today, it's almost in fashion to be offended by a word, a remark or an opinion that differs from your own. Thoughtful discussion and agreeing to disagree seem to have gone the way of the dodo. But what really troubles me is how much the business of news media has changed over the past 10 to 15 years. Media companies make their money on per-click ad revenue now. So headlines and articles are chosen for their ability to generate clicks rather than their relevance to current events.

It's interesting how many very old political jokes resurface every campaign cycle changing only the names. "Q: If X and Y were marooned far at sea on a sinking raft, who would be saved? A: The country."

One of my favorite things to collect are cheap political pamphlets from the Era, many of which contain claims and allegations so grotesque that they'd cause today's campaign lackeys to hold their ears and scream. "Franklin Double-Crossing Rosenfeld, an agent of the Jewish-Communist International Banking Elders of Zion, and his 'negroid' wife Eleanor, whose behavior is the result of syphilitic insanity contracted from her secret Kremlin lover." You get the idea. The streets were full of dirty little mimeographed rags and broadsides like this, put out both by cellar-dwelling bands of mumbling psychotics and well-organized agents of a certain Central European power.

And even today's wacky antics at their wackiest don't top the unimpeachably revolting Supreme Court Justice James McReynolds, who routinely referred to the President -- in public -- as "that crippled son of a bitch in the White House." And that was when he was trying to be friendly.

Microwave popcorn instructions that are not remotely accurate regarding cooking times. I get it - microwave oven power varies so adjust cooking time accordingly and watch while you pop. But suggesting 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, and it starts to burn at 1:45?
I have ours figured out by now, but it took a few sacrifices. I still listen to the popping just in case though. I really dislike the smell of burnt popcorn.

⇧ suit and tie and you look very nice. It's not selfish or foolish, you want to be respectful and many in our generation were taught that dressing right for events - like a funeral - is part of the way you show respect. But as you implied, the important thing is being there to support the family and being able to say goodbye to your friend. My sympathies to you my friend on your loss.

I just noticed the other day that the carton of eggs in my fridge has scripture written inside the cover. Been getting those eggs for years and just noticed it. I'm not sure how I feel about that...

IMHO, here's how this should play out in a free society. The company packaging the eggs has the right to put the scripture there and you (and ever other consumer) have a right to choose to buy them or not based on your personal views if that bothers you or not or, maybe, you even like it.
