Hi Gents,
I would like to buy a Filson field jacket, but I am unsure about the sleeve length. According to their website www.filson.com jackets and coats are generously sized. Normally I wear a suit size 42 (as my Aero's...) so a size Large should be fine with a Filson. However, on some pics on the net I noticed people wearing Filson jackets with far too short sleeves. Is there any FL member who can tell me the sleeve length of a size Large of this particular jacket?
Also I would like to wear a Filson vest under the jacket as well. Would that affect sizing also?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy. I have two Filsons:

Mackinaw Cruiser marked as size 44 has sleeve length shoulder to cuff of 26".

Plain Cruiser marked as size large has sleeve length shoulder to cuff 25".

Both are cut generously so you'll be fine with a Filson vest underneath - should you really need it.

Thanks mate, that really helps. 25" would be fine with me. Btw, where did you buy your Filson jackets? Is there a shop in the UK who sells it?
Thanks,
Andy

My medium sized Yukon wool Filson jacket also has a 25" long sleeve. While a smaller size than you, I guess it means that the sleeve will be atleast 25" on whatever you purchase. Whatever style you get you will definately enjoy.

Thanks Handlebar Bart,
I sure will put the moleskin vest on my wishlist also. Like many others, I've bought jackets, vest and trousers which did not last very long. Especially while working on the farm, go out shooting, hiking or just for daily purposes... Right now, I don't own much, but the things I buy now are of decent build materials made by craftmanship from the past. And that pays... Like Filson seez: "Might have well have the best". I have two Filson bags, two hats and a cap. They cost a fortune to me, and have been used and abused, but I am sure they will last for decades!
Cheers,
Andy
